“Just don’t go too crazy.” This was another world for Leilani. The world of crazy money. It wasn’t anything Leilani had ever aspired to. This relationship with Adaze was so incredible in so many ways, but they came from different worlds.
“No promises,” Adaze smirked.
The rest of the meal passed in a similar fashion. Leilani would try things, or Adaze would pick things for her to try. Sometimes she would try and guess what it was—she even got it right a handful of times—but mostly they just enjoyed a pleasant meal together.
When they were done, Leilani thought they would head back to her place, but Adaze led her to the elevator and took them up to the roof.
When they stepped outside, Leilani let out a small laugh of delight. “I didn’t know people were allowed up here.”
“Technically, we’re not. But there are certainly perks to being the billionaire CEO Adaze Banks.”
Leilani just laughed, walking through the space. The whole rooftop was filled with plants and benches. There were even fairy lights twisted in a few small potted trees. “What? They just hauled all of this out here for you?”
She just shrugged. “I can make anything happen.”
Leilani moved to stand by the railing. She looked down on the lights of the city. In the distance, she could see the city reflected out on the dark expanse of the ocean.
“The view is incredible.”
“I couldn’t agree more. The finest in the city.”
She turned to see Adaze’s aqua eyes locked on her, something tender on her face. Adaze took a step towards her. “I, uh, I got you something.” She held out a small box.
“Is that jewelry?”
“What? Not exactly. Not this time. I thought about it, but I was worried that might be a bit much. This seemed like a compromise.” She held out the box.
Leilani accepted it. It was slightly bigger than her palm. It looked exactly like the kind of box a necklace would come in. It was made of a dark material that almost felt like leather under her fingers. She glanced at Adaze again before popping it open.
She gasped. There were two things in the box, one inside the other. One of them was a leather cat collar with a literal silk bow and a small bell that looked like it might have a real gemstone pressed into it. The other was a slightly simpler leather band. The bow and bell etched onto it, leather dyed to match. Its only sparkle came from a stone pressed in the center matching the one on the bell.
“Adaze, getting my cat and I matching jewelry still counts as getting me jewelry!”
Leilani felt touched by the thought that had gone into it. Jaspurr meant the world to her, and it meant everything that Adaze had acknowledged that and considered that.
“Is it too much?”
She laughed. “It should be, but I’ve got to be honest, I love it, and I’m sure Jaspurr will too.”
Adaze looked relieved. “Good. I’m glad.”
She leaned in, pressing a kiss to her lips.
A short while later, the pair finally made it back to Leilani’s place.
“Here we are,” Leilani purred, stretching out on her sofa.
“Stay just like that,” Adaze growled, coming to lay on top of her.
“I was planning on it.”
She brought their lips together in a gentle kiss. Her arms came to wrap around Adaze’s neck. Leilani pressed herself up against Adaze. She wanted to feel her body against every inch of her.
Adaze huffed. “I told you, patience.”
“How can you expect me to be patient when I need you?” Leilani whimpered.
“Because, I expect you to know I’m going to give you what you need, but not until I think you’ve earned it.” She rubbed a thigh between Leilani’s legs pressing tight against her clitoris.
