“Let’s rest for a bit, and then we’ll get dressed and go home to your house. Tomorrow, I’d like you to come to my house and see if you could live there.”
She looked up at him. “I don’t care where we live. I just want to be with you.”
He leaned down and kissed her sweetly. “I love you so much.”
He watched her eyes widen.
“You’ve never said that before,” she said.
His brows pinched together. He thought he’d said it several times over the past few months but couldn’t remember when. “I’m an ass. I’ve loved you since the first time I saw you singing and dancing in the stall.”
“God, that was embarrassing.”
He shook his head and smiled. “No, Little Sub. You are perfect, and I wouldn’t change anything about you.”
She cupped the side of his face. “I love you, too. I can’t ever see my life without you.”
“You don’t have to worry about that. You’re stuck with me.”
She wiggled against his side and yawned.
“Rest, Sweetheart.”
He knew the moment sleep overtook her because her breathing deepened. He’d give them thirty minutes, but then he was getting them out of there and home. He wanted to wake up in her bed tomorrow, and then every morning after wake up with her in his bed.
Chapter Twenty
Sara woke up and turned to see Grant’s side of the bed empty. When she checked the clock, she realized why. He’d probably been up for several hours already.
She sat up, wrapped her arms around her bent knees, and looked down at the three dogs on the floor on her side. Thor had come a long way since meeting her girls. They seemed to have brought out the puppy in him. He still shied away from most of the men, but he got better as time passed.
She was startled when the bedroom door opened, and Grant walked in, using his foot to close the door behind him. She eyed the tray in his hands.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“It’s our anniversary,” he told her.
“Our what?” she said, shocked.
“We’ve been together six months.”
She rolled her eyes and grinned. “You had me going. I thought I’d forgotten something.”
Grant set the tray on the bed between them before undressing and getting back under the covers.
She looked over the array of food, and her mouth watered—the cook, Betty, had outdone herself again. There were eggs, toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, and fruit. There were also glasses of orange juice.
He handed her a plate, and they started filling it. They sat back and enjoyed the breakfast, talking about the day ahead.
He took her plate when she was done and set the tray on the floor by the side of the bed.
She was looking out the window at the bright sunlight when he got her attention. She turned to see a small box in the palm of his hand. Right away, she knew it was a ring. They had talked about it a few times, but she thought they would wait. Sheguessed he’d been too impatient.
He opened it, showing her the three-carat diamond. “If you don’t like it, we can exchange it.”
She shook her head, smiled, and blinked back her tears. “No,” she said and set her hand on his. “It’s beautiful.”
Grant got on his knees by the side of the bed. “Sara, I love you with all my heart, and I can’t imagine my life without you. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
