He grunts and leans to place his forehead to mine. I close my eyes and absorb the feel of him. How did I get this lucky?

“You think I haven’t been able to smell your arousal? You want me inside of you as much as I want to be in you.”

I open my eyes and lock with his heated stare. He cups my ass and lifts me onto his waist. Wrapping my legs around him, I cup his face and meet his kiss.

He groans as he deepens the kiss. I suck his tongue into my mouth, loving the flavor coming from his. My back hits a wall, bringing me out of my blissful trance.

I glance around to see we’re back in our room. Candles are lit all around and rose petals are on the bed. I guess our romantic night hasn’t come to an end; the location has just changed.

I’m good with that. As long as I’m in his arms, I’m okay with anything. Heck, I even made the trip this time without becoming nauseous.

Bradan

The last thing I wanted to do tonight was leave my mate’s side. After fucking her to sleep for the second time, I had planned to wait for her to wake so I could do it again.

However, when Dom linked me to let me know what was going on, and I did leave behind work in my office that needed to be done. Taylor has to put in hours for her internship this coming week, so I need to be caught up on my work.

Reports are coming in that supers are acting out. I’d like to get a handle on that before it becomes a problem. We can’t allow chaos to take over and lead the community to think we’ve lost interest in their well-being.

“You’re up late,” Reilly says as he pokes his head into my office.

I rub my eyes. We don’t need as much sleep as humans, but I’ve exerted a tremendous amount of energy today. Sitting back in my chair, I wave my brother in.

“I had some docs to sign off on. I was interrupted earlier,” I say.

“I heard about that. How is Taylor holding up?”

“She’s fine. That woman is much stronger than she looks.”

“I bet. I can feel their powers growing, you know.”

“I’ve noticed it too. It’s only been a week, but they all are changing.”

“I wonder what it all means,” Reilly muses. “Why now?”

“Your guess is as good as mine. I’m grateful, but it does seem like strange timing.”

“Kendrick hasn’t seen Mabruk yet?” I ask.

“No, I haven’t. She’s never there when I go,” Kendrick says as he appears in the doorway.

“Um, interesting,” I murmur.

“I was told you called for Cole’s patch,” Kendrick says, looking me in the eyes.

“You have a problem with that?”

“Reel that shit in, little brother. I agree with the decision. If you hadn’t, I would have,” he says as he saunters into the office and takes a seat on the couch with Reilly.

“You assholes are having a party and didn’t bother to invite me?” Ardan says as he walks in.

“I’m working. I don’t have time for a party,” I say.

“I thought with having your mates, the three of you would be in bed this time of night,” Reilly says.

“No place I’d rather be, but none of this is going to take care of itself,” I say as I begin to leaf through paperwork once again.

“I can help out and take some things off your plate after my shifts looking for those bastards,” Reilly says.
