She planned to seduce the demon. Again.
A shiver ran through her at the new plan.
She recalled how she was able to use seduction as a weapon in the holy land. Due to her seduction, the demon even drank the drugged drink she had given him. He hadn’t trusted her even then, but the desire was powerful enough to muddle his rational thought.
She would use desire to control the demon. The demon was most likely incapable of love, but lust and desire could soften him towards her, and she could get him to eventually do her bidding.
She would get the demon to take her to the Thakvar province on his own.
Her heart raced at the possibility.
Just as she dreamed of the consequences of her new plan, she heard the sounds of horses and eagles returning to the encampment.
The demon is back.
Even though she made an elaborate plan, a part of her had hoped that the demon wouldn’t return that night. That a spear or a few more bullets would find him.
But she knew the demon was nearly invincible. And the savage would once again defy the odds and return from hell if need be, just to demand what she promised and torture her.
Bastard.
She continued pacing the tent nervously.
When he didn’t come after a while, hope took root inside her.
Maybe he was gravely injured during some attack.
Maybe his people took him to a different tent to tend to his injuries.
Maybe Uma will come to her to give me the bad news.
Even as hopeful thoughts flew in her mind, she felt a change in the air inside.
She froze, and then slowly, she turned towards the entrance of the tent.
Shock gripped her as she met the demon’s gaze.
The demon had taken a bath in the pond. But unlike each evening, he didn’t apply ash on his face. She could see his features clearly. Although she had seen his face without the ash many weeks ago, she felt shocked and unnerved seeing how devastatingly handsome he was.
The demon was also uninjured and looking vitally powerful, as usual.
He stepped further inside, went to a low table, and began undressing and preparing for the night.
She stood frozen.
She felt too unnerved looking at his handsome features.
With clearly defined high cheekbones, a regal forehead and nose, and a masculine jawline with a stubbled beard, it felt as though a stranger had entered the tent. She wanted to demand that he reapply ash on his face, covering his handsome features, before touching her that night.
But she stopped herself. She didn’t want the demon to know he affected her in any way.
Sucking in a deep breath, she hurried towards the low table where the food was kept.
“You must be hungry,” she said and began serving into two plates.
When the demon joined her, there was a flash of dark amusement in his eyes as he watched the large amount of food on his plate. She had requested for a lot of food, hoping it would take a long time for him to eat and he would feel sleepy right after a big meal. And that she wouldn’t have to put up with the seduction plan for too long that night.
He didn’t say anything, so he took his plate and began to eat.
