But her relief was short-lived when the demon stepped closer. Heat radiated off him, and she was filled with the subtle smell of sandalwood and musk.

She was shocked that he would make her fulfill her promise right away. Her breath caught in her throat, expecting him to grab her and throw her on the bedding and consummate their marriage or make her give him a blowjob right then. She braced herself for violence and passion.

But he didn’t touch her. Not in the way she expected.

Rough fingers held her chin while he stroked her cheek with a calloused finger. Her stomach trembled with each stroke, and she felt a tug all the way to her womb.

“I want you to repeat what you did in the holy land tent,” he said. He then smiled darkly. “Except for the part of drugging me.”

Her cheeks flushed, recalling the moments in the holy land tent. She had touched him and kissed him and did other things, trying to seduce him.

She would have to do those things again. And much more.

“Fine,” she said, even though her stomach trembled.

His gaze heated. She thought he would kiss her to seal their deal. Her lips began tingling in breathless anticipation. But before anything could happen, someone called his name urgently from outside the tent.

“Have the horses readied,” he ordered to the man. “We will be leaving now.”

His hand dropped from her chin.

“Prepare for tonight… wife,” he commanded softly.

Then, giving her a sweeping look, he turned and walked out of the tent.

She stood frozen on the spot, watching his broad back while he left to join his men.

Her heart beat rapidly.

The demon was going to consummate their marriage that night. And she promised him she would willingly participate in her own ruination.

CHAPTER 25

The sun began to set outside the tent.

“Would you like anything else?” Uma asked after placing the last tray on the low table

Nandini was a nervous wreck, but she shook her head with a small smile. “Nothing else, thank you.”

She didn’t join the campfire that evening for her meal. Instead, she requested for a meal to be arranged for her and the demon inside the tent.

Uma and Rumi looked surprised, and they exchanged knowing glances with each other before arranging for the request. They not only set up an elaborate meal, but they also sprinkled fragrant flower petals over the bedding and lit incense sticks. The whole encampment probably knew what she planned to do with the demon that night. And they also probably knew she was doing it as compensation for defying his execution order that morning.

“We’ll see you in the morning,” said Uma. Then she pointed at a small container that had a familiar-looking gel. “You can… uh… apply it before as well…it will make it easier.”

Nandini didn’t understand for a moment, and then her face heated with embarrassment realizing that the gel was a lubricant. They expected the demon to be rough and angry with her for defying him and interrupting the execution.

“Thank you,” she murmured, hoping the demon wasn’t going to be brutal.

Soon, Uma and Rumi left, and she began pacing the tent nervously.

I hope my plan works.

All day, she had thought of a way to get out of the promise she made to the demon.

She had thought of lying about getting her period. But she knew the demon would rip off her clothes to check. She had even thought of faking an illness, but he would once again know she was lying and would order the execution of the boy.

If the demon wasn’t such a savage bastard, it would have been easy to manipulate him and get out of the promise using empathy. But since he had neither empathy nor patience, she came up with the only way that would both keep her promise and also get the demon to do her bidding.
