She kicked with her legs and attacked him with her hands, but nothing seemed to stop him. She didn’t care if he would slit her throat. She started pounding his back with her fists, and he suddenly stopped and lowered her on the rocky ground.

She could see the gunshot wounds on his left shoulder and arm that were bleeding profusely. She thought he stopped because of his injuries. But she was shocked when he reached for her left hand and pulled off the bracelet that she had used to send the signal to her brothers.

“No!” she screamed and tried to grab it back. But he flung it away hard, and she watched it fall into the middle of the oasis.

She tried to run towards it. But the demon held her arm and yanked her close before throwing her once again over his shoulder. She hit his arm where he was bleeding. But even in his injured state, nothing seemed to stop him. He took her into a cave.

She screamed and fought desperately as he carried her deeper into a cave. It was dark inside, and she couldn’t see the oasis anymore.

He walked zigzaggedly into the cave that was almost like a maze of tunnels.

Her screams reverberated inside the caves.

After what seemed like forever, the demon stopped and lowered her feet to the ground. His breathing was heavy and uneven. She knew he was badly injured and bleeding due to gunshot wounds. But before she could run, he held her arm and pushed her to the hard and smooth surface of the cave. And then, his heavy weight pressed her down.

“Let me go!” she shouted.

She heard the demon’s heavy breathing against her ear.

“I will never let you go,” he replied. “And you have bloody accepted me as your husband.”

She froze in shock because the demon had spoken in English. And it wasn’t just any English, but it was a perfectly polished British accent.

CHAPTER 17

Thakvar mansion,

Singoor Desert.

“I can’t believe the savage bastard got away!” Rishab was beyond livid.

“He has to be somehow backed by Tantra,” Nakul growled. “There is no other way for him to disappear into thin air within minutes, especially when he was shot and had lost a lot of blood!”

Shivay stayed calm despite the rage he felt at the situation. He had seen Nandini up close and had nearly gotten her away safely. But Rudra Kabali snatched her and took her away one more time.

They were forced to fly away from the oasis when Nandini was threatened with a knife at her throat. But they returned after three hours, knowing Rudra Kabali would have been unconscious after losing a lot of blood.

Taking help of the security, they had scanned the entire area around the oasis. They found blood and followed the into the caves, but they couldn’t find the injured Kabali heir or Nandini. Someone had already got to them and taken them away from there. They could no longer track Nandini as her tracking bracelet was found inside the oasis pond.

“Something doesn’t add up,” said Shivay. “Tantra could have helped only if there was a call for help.”

Rishab frowned. “The savage bastard fell into the water. So, it couldn’t have been a phone he used to call for help. It has to be another kind of communication device.”

“Maybe it’s a tracking device like how we sent one to Nandini,” Nakul stated. “Maybe Nandini’s bracelet didn’t slip into the water. The savage could have thrown it deliberately, knowing there’s a tracking device in it.”

Shivay was silent as he processed the fact that a savage clan leader could figure out there was a tracking device in the bracelet. He had also sent communication to someone to get help.

He recalled how Rudra Kabali had been when he jumped off the mountain onto the helicopter. He cut off the rope and wasn’t shocked by gunshots. Every move of his was calculated and precise.

Something definitely didn’t add up. Shivay always trusted his gut instinct.

“Get Rudra Kabali’s fingerprints from the things we found in the tent on top of the mountain. Also, his blood samples and images from helicopter camera footage. Run a scan to check to see if there are any results.”

There was a hell of a lot more to the man who stole Nandini.
