“Grab the rope and tie it around your waist!” Rishab instructed.
A rope was lowered towards her.
Wiping her tears, she quickly reached for it and wrapped it securely around her waist using the safety latch. Then followed the rope ladder.
“Climb up carefully,” her brother Shivay instructed.
Letting out a laugh at the familiarity of her oldest brother’s concern, she stepped on the rope ladder and began climbing.
Happy tears stung her eyes, looking at her brothers’ handsome faces. They were smiling back reassuringly at her.
She had reached the middle of the rope ladder when she saw a sudden shift in their expressions while they looked at something behind her.
“Fuck!” Rishab yelled.
“Nandini, hold on!” Shivay shouted from above.
She nodded, not knowing what was happening. She clung to the rope ladder as the helicopter began moving.
She turned her head and looked back, only for her heart to jerk violently in shock.
The demon was running towards the helicopter with a fierce look. She watched in shock as he leaped off the mountain and launched himself towards her.
She screamed as he caught the rope ladder with one hand and wrapped the other arm around her.
“No! Let me go!” she shouted.
But the demon held on to her in a vice-like grip.
She struggled against the demon and looked up to see her brothers watching her with angry, concerned looks.
“I’m going to kill that bastard!” her brother Rishab shouted.
She watched in horror as her brother pulled out a gun and aimed it down. She closed her eyes and heard the gunshot. She felt the demon flinch against her, but the grip on her didn’t loosen.
He flinched one more time when another gunshot went off. This time, the arm holding the rope ladder lowered.
“Wait! Don’t shoot!” Shivay commanded. “He has a weapon.”
Just as Shivay asked Rishab to stop shooting, she felt something cold against her throat. She realized it was a knife.
She let out a sob of terror.
But the knife didn’t remain on her neck for long. She felt him move his arm above her.
“Fuck! The bastard is cutting the rope!” Rishab shouted.
She watched in shock as the demon cut off the safety rope.
She screamed, clinging to the rope ladder. The only thing stopping her from plunging several hundred feet below was her death grip on the rope ladder and the demon’s arm around her.
“Stop, you bastard!” Rishab shouted again.
She felt the rope ladder shake vigorously, and she saw that the savage was cutting the rope ladder, too.
She screamed in terror.
“Nandini, hold on tightly!” Shivay shouted. “Fly lower! Go towards the oasis!”
