His steely grey eyes watched her every move.
Sucking in another deep breath, she smiled at him and covered his palm with hers, and placed it on his chest.
“Rudra Kabali…” she whispered.
She then held his palm and placed it on her chest where her heart was thumping crazily. “Nandini… Kabali… your… gvanni,” she said using the term for wife.
His grey eyes flashed, but he remained still.
It felt strange to be talking to the demon as though they were having a normal conversation. As though she weren’t the woman he kidnapped and forcibly married.
“I want to accept you as my husband, but let’s follow tradition first. Let’s go to the—” She broke off with a gasp when his hand at the back of her neck lowered and ripped off her blouse.
Not this again!
He tore through her long skirt as well.
“Wait!” she said as he swept her into his arms and carried her to the bedding.
He dropped her on it.
This time, his grey eyes weren’t impassive. They were molten and blazing with desire.
Oh my God.
She realized that he probably thought she had accepted him as her husband based on her previous words and actions.
He joined her on the bedding and rolled on top of her.
She felt the entire length of his hard, muscled body, including his hard arousal. She couldn’t breathe as she met his molten steel eyes.
“No. No. Wait! I haven’t accepted you yet! Only in the holy land!”
Panic made her forget the words in the Kabali language.
She felt his long, calloused fingers wrapping around her thighs and spreading them apart.
She tried to move, but she was pinned under him, including her arms.
“Holy land! Wait until the holy land!”
“Nistaro…hotar,” she said, finally remembering and using the words for holy land in the Kabali language. “I will accept you in the holy land!”
His eyes flashed dangerously. Her heart thudded in fear watching his savage expression. She thought he would ignore her words and claim her right then.
But his jaw clenched, and he fell to her side.
She rolled to her side and wanted to escape, but his hand wrapped around her waist and dragged her back.
“Tam hums manlam mam ornayi thikri dhani…gvanni,” he commanded against her ear.
“Nistaro…hotar,” she repeated.
She held her breath.
There was silence.
Much later, the demon’s breathing deepened.
