He had finished removing the black tunic and the brown beads from around his neck and arms. He began to come towards her.
She ran to the other side of the bedding.
“I don’t want to be your wife, you savage!” she shouted with a shake of her head. “Gvanni… no!”
He must have understood the Kabali word for wife and the shake of her head, but that didn’t stop him. He walked over the bedding and more or less cornered her. But before she could run to the other side, his long, muscled arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her close.
He then carried her to the bedding, dropped her on top of it, and followed her down.
“Tam hums manlam mam ornayi thikri dhani… gvanni,” he commanded.
“No! Never!” she shouted in response. “I will never accept you as my husband!”
His fingers tightened on her top and ripped it in half. And then, his hand moved lower and yanked away the long skirt, leaving her nearly naked. He ripped the skirt in half, rendering it useless and unable to wear.
She glared at him even though her stomach was trembling hard.
“When I escape and have you captured, I will keep you naked while my brothers torture you to a painful death.”
He watched her, but his expression didn’t change even though her tone was scathing.
He lay down on the bedding and pulled up the thick blanket before dragging her close until she could feel the heat of his muscled body against her back. She could feel the brush of his chest hair against her bare back, and his large palm rested against her abdomen. She didn’t want to think about what other parts of theirs touched below her waist. Despite the warmth, she shivered, and her skin broke into goosebumps at the skin contact.
“Tam hums manlam mam ornayi thikri dhani…gvanni,” he commanded.
She wanted to scream she would never accept him. But she remained silent and still.
After a while, his breathing deepened against her ear.
She remained awake for a long time, seething with anger and fear. Although the demon hadn’t taken her that night, she knew it was because of his own will. Her words and actions held no power over him.
Until she escaped or was rescued, she would have to live in fear each night. Because when the demon decides to make her his wife in every way, she wouldn’t be able to stop him.
CHAPTER 11
Holy land,
Singoor desert.
A meeting was arranged in Singoor's holy lands to deliver important news. All clans, except for the north clans, attended the meeting.
“We can’t accept this marriage,” Shivay Thakvar stated, looking at the group of holy men. “All Singoor marriages have to be performed in the holy land.”
The Aghoris had just informed of the marriage that took place between the Thakvar heiress and the Kabali clan heir two days ago.
“We agree with the Thakvars,” a west clan head said. “We can’t accept a marriage that is not blessed by Mahadev and Shakti.”
The rest of the clan heads were also in agreement. Ever since the Thakvars united the clans in Singoor, they all swore to support the Thakvars.
“The marriage is blessed by Mahadev and Shakti,” one of the Aghoris said. “We personally witnessed and blessed the couple during the ceremony. The Thakvar heiress was standing next to the Kabali heir and participated in the blood-joining ceremony.”
“There is no way my sister would have agreed to the ceremony!” Rishab stated.
“Unless she had been threatened!” Nakul added.
The Aghoris looked at the Thakvar heirs who had married the Gujjar, Bhil and Kanwar heiresses and became the heads of those clans. All the three weddings had taken place in the Singoor temple in the holy land.
“The Kabali wedding ceremony took place according to the rules of the land. You must honor the Thakvar and Kabali marriage alliance.”
