Waves of ecstasy grew and burst in a starry explosion. She screamed in rapture while her demon husband let out a guttural roar as he climaxed inside her at the same time.
She didn’t know how long she continued to shudder. But she felt the demon picking her up and lowering her to the middle of the bed and joining next to her.
Just when she was able to draw in some breaths normally, she opened her eyes. He was watching her while his hand stroked her upper arm softly. The look in his eyes felt intimate, making her feel deeply connected to him. Her stomach fluttered despite knowing she shouldn’t feel anything beyond desire.
She wanted to roll to her side, but her hair was caught under his arm.
“I don’t enjoy cuddling, and I prefer sleeping on my own side,” she said, trying to sound cool and dismissive. “The bed is quite big to sleep comfortably on our own sides.”
His eyes flashed. “As long as you are my wife, you will sleep in my arms each night.”
She was annoyed by the fluttering his commanding words caused inside her stomach.
“Last night, I didn’t sleep in your arms,” she reminded him.
He watched her with hooded eyes. “Last night, I didn’t hold you because I knew if I touched you, I wouldn’t stop until I was inside you. And you wouldn’t have been able to get up or walk for days.”
Her heart jerked at his words. Just when she thought he was being considerate, he rolled on top of her. She gasped when he spread her legs and lay in between.
Her breath caught in her throat, and his heated eyes bore into hers.
“That was only for last night because it was your first time,” he said. “Now, it isn’t anymore.” His eyes turned dark in desire. “And you won’t be sleeping anytime soon.”
For the rest of the night, the demon kept her awake.
It was nearly dawn when she finally fell into an exhausted sleep, wrapped in her demon husband’s arms.
CHAPTER 41
By the time Nandini woke up the next morning, bright sunlight streamed into the room.
With a groan, she slowly turned to the side, shielding her eyes. The demon had left. She knew he must have gone off riding somewhere as soon as she slept.
The man must truly be a demon to not need sleep. She could barely move, and every inch of her body ached, especially between her legs.
“Savage demon,” she muttered, even as she felt a blush recalling the passion of the previous night.
There was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” she said. But realizing she was naked, she hurriedly sat up and dragged the bedsheet over her body.
“Good morning,” Uma greeted as she pushed a wooden cart with nearly half a dozen dishes.
The smell of the delicious food made Nandini’s stomach rumble loudly.
Uma smiled. “I brought in heavy breakfast since you missed your dinner last night.”
Nandini’s cheeks heated, recalling that Uma had gone to bring dinner the previous night before the demon came in and ambushed her inside the bathtub.
“Thanks, Uma,” she said. “I’ll freshen up and have my breakfast. I want to meet Skandamai today.”
She wanted to talk to the seer about the past.
There was still a lot of missing information. She also had to badger the demon to tell her more about Tantra.
“Yes, I can take you to her,” said Uma.
