He groaned deeply with each powerful thrust that filled her until all she could feel was him. Deep inside her and everywhere around her.
His movements were savage, and soon, she matched his savagery by moving along with him, marking him, and claiming him. Climax hit her like another shocking tidal wave.
She screamed and gripped him as he shuddered hard along with her before letting out a roar of release. She trembled as another tidal wave hit her before liquid heat filled her from inside.
She felt overwhelmed by emotion. She didn’t realize tears escaped her eyes until she felt the hot swipe of the demon’s tongue as he licked away her tears.
His arms wrapped around her, and he rolled them until she lay with her head against his chest. Her body continued to tremble while he held her tightly.
She was sticky from the sweat and felt sore between her legs, but she felt comfortable in his arms. Her eyes began to droop. She blinked to keep them open as she had to discuss something important.
“Rudra…” she began.
“Sleep,” the demon commanded softly.
“But—”
“We can talk later. We have an early start tomorrow.”
She knew they would return to the Kabali encampment, which was far from the holy land. Deciding to talk to him the next day, she closed her eyes as a feeling of contentment and exhaustion took over.
Within seconds, she fell asleep in her demon husband’s warm embrace.
CHAPTER 38
Rudra stared into the semi-darkness inside the holy land tent. Nandini’s soft breathing could be heard as she slept on the top of his chest.
He remained awake to stay vigilant in case there was an attack.
As the head of the Kabali clan, he had experienced a lot over the past five years. He had shed blood, taken lives, and done everything he could to protect his people and reclaim his birthright. But for the first time, he had experienced fear.
His heart thundered, thinking how close he had been to not finding Nandini on time. After Tantra hacked into the network, his cousins couldn’t communicate with him for a while to give the exact location of Nandini. He had to rely purely on his trusted eagle and gut instincts to find her.
It was during that rage-and-fear-filled ride that he realized what he felt for Nandini was beyond duty or desire. Darkness consumed him at the thought of some evil bastard getting hold of her and hurting her.
Once again, the communication was restored, and his cousins informed him that Nandini was located close to the holy land.
As soon as he saw her near the oasis outside the holy land, he felt immense relief. His willful, shrewd, and intelligent wife managed to trick the clan heir, who took her into going toward the holy land instead of outside Singoor. But his relief was followed by a blinding rage against the clan heir who had dared to take her.
He had cut off the bastard’s head, but his rage hadn’t died. The man who ordered Nandini to be kidnapped was still alive.
Unless Tantra was killed, there would be a threat to Nandini.
His eyes fell on Nandini’s face as she shifted slightly in his arms. His body automatically hardened in arousal at the feel of her naked body against his. But he remained still, not wanting to disturb her sleep.
He hadn’t planned to consummate their marriage.
He had brought her to the holy land tent because it was close to the oasis and relatively safer. It was late evening, and she was too exhausted to ride for several more hours to reach the Kabali encampment.
But he wanted her, burned for her, and when she pushed him to touch her the previous night, he lost control and claimed her.
To her, last night was merely a culmination of their months-long burning attraction. But to him, it was the beginning of something that would last forever.
“You are mine now… wife,” he said softly.
CHAPTER 39
The next morning, she was barely awake when she was scooped out of the warm, comfortable bed. Her demon husband dressed her and carried her out of the tent.
