“Who spoke to you about it?” he asked.
Although his voice was low, a chill passed through her at the dark menace.
“Skandamai,” she replied.
She knew the demon, and the rest of the Kabali clan revered Skandamai. The seer wouldn’t have to follow the rules laid by the demon.
He didn’t reply and continued eating.
“Well?” she demanded. “I deserved to know the truth! You could have told me early on why you wanted to marry me! You didn’t have to force and terrorize me!”
“And you would have agreed and married me willingly?” he asked.
Her face burned. Of course, she wouldn’t have agreed.
He was still a savage demon.
“I would have thought about it,” she lied.
He raised his eyebrow, making her face burn even further.
Pushing away the discomfort, she sucked in a breath.
“I have a deal to propose,” she said.
He remained quiet as he continued eating.
“Since I now understand why I was brought here, and I know that our alliance is critical for the well-being of Singoor, … I have decided to stay married to you until the Goddess Shakti statue is commissioned. I promise not to escape or do anything that would risk the commissioning ceremony.”
It was a decision she had made sometime during her bath. Her my father had sacrificed a lot for bringing peace to Singoor, and her brothers had also been working towards the same and even married for the sake of commissioning the goddess statue which was critical to the region. She wanted to make a similar sacrifice and remain married to the demon until the goal was achieved.
“Well?” she demanded when the demon remained silent. “Did you hear me?”
The demon watched her as he ate. “Another deal?” he asked. “I’m yet to receive the mind-blowing blowjob you had promised in your previous deal.”
Her face burned at the reminder.
“You tricked me into making that promise!” she snapped.
Although the demon did let her think that the teen spy would be killed, he hadn’t pushed her into making that outrageous promise.
They both knew that, but she refused to acknowledge it.
“I will accept you as my husband and remain married to you until—”
“I am already your husband.”
“Willingly!” she snapped. “I promise to attend the ceremony or any other events as your wife and tell my family and everyone that I’m with you willingly.”
His gaze bore into hers. “And what do you want in return?” he asked.
She frowned. “What do you mean?”
“In return for your generous promise, am I to take you to visit your family?”
“Yes, of course—”
She broke off when his mouth twisted darkly.
