“We’ll remain here tomorrow and train,” he announced.

There was a surprise in his men’s eyes, but they nodded. He knew they were surprised because ever since he had returned from the Thakvar mansion, he had barely stayed in the Kabali mansion.

He and a group of warriors set up tents each night in various places to draw mercenaries. It was only the previous night that their encampment was attacked by men dressed as the Kabali warriors. After keeping one of the mercenaries alive, he and his men followed the tracks and found the hideout where more mercenaries were hiding.

He had hoped it would lead to Tantra, but the man either escaped or planted decoys to mislead.

Biting back a growl of frustration, he walked towards the entrance of the mansion.

The housekeeper and staff looked relieved to see him after many days.

“Rudra… the Aghoris came in this morning,” said the housekeeper.

“What did they say?” he asked with a slight frown, hoping there wasn’t bad news.

“They said Thakvars returned something precious, which belonged to the Kabalis.”

Rudra felt a vicious twist in his heart.

The Kabali heart.

He knew Nandini wouldn’t take kindly to being abandoned without a word or explanation. Rudra knew the woman he married was stubborn and passionate. He imagined her flinging the heart-shaped black pendant he had given onto his face.

The ache in his heart intensified.

He knew she hated him now. Although he expected that to happen, he didn’t expect it to hurt so damn fucking much.

“Where is it?” he asked.

“It’s in your room.”

He didn’t want to look at it as it would bring more pain.

“I’ll send dinner to your room as well,” the housekeeper said.

He nodded before taking the stairs to go to his room, even though he wasn’t looking forward to spending a lonely dinner and night.

He missed Nandini too fucking much.

He missed listening to her arguments and demands. He missed seeing her excitement and curiosity. And he missed sinking into her body and listening to her soft gasps while she held him and returned his passion.

Fuck!

He clenched his hands into fists, controlling the urge to storm the Thakvar mansion to bring back his wife. But he knew he couldn't do that despite how much he wanted her and hated the thought of not having her in his arms.

Dark, helpless rage filled him at the circumstances.

Pushing open the bedroom door, he stepped in, only for him to freeze.

For a moment, he thought he missed his wife so damn much that he was hallucinating. But the vision on his bed spoke.

“What took you so long,” she demanded, getting down from the bed and coming towards him.

CHAPTER 51

Nandini stood in front of her demon husband while her heart raced with happiness seeing him after many days.

She wanted to hug him, but he looked too shocked and angry.
