Turning in his arms, she looked at him and kissed him on his lips.
It started as a sweet kiss, but she felt his body tense when she pushed her tongue into his mouth.
Just as she wondered if he would try to be too considerate and insist on her sleeping, he kissed her back. His fingers gripped the back of her head as he kissed her hungrily.
Desire roared through her body.
“Rudra…” she whispered. “I want you now.”
At her soft demand, he pushed her on her back and rolled on top of her.
She wrapped her arms around him, and soon, her worries melted away, and all she could think of was her demon husband.
CHAPTER 45
Rudra opened his eyes to see the early rays of the sun lighting up the sky outside the large balcony doors. He lowered his eyes to look at Nandini, who was asleep on his chest with her palm over his heartbeat.
His chest tightened, watching her beautiful face.
Suppressing the strong urge to hold her in his arms for some more time, he carefully held the back of her head and rolled her until her head lay on the pillow next to him. He adjusted her comfortably before covering her with a blanket.
She didn’t stir as she was in deep sleep. He knew she wouldn’t wake up until a few more hours as she was exhausted.
He got down from the bed and began to get ready.
His men would be waiting for him downstairs.
He took a quick shower before putting on his clothes and accessories. As soon as he was ready, he went to bed again.
Watching his wife’s beautiful face, he leaned forward and gently kissed her on her forehead and lips.
“I love you,” he said softly. “And I’ll never let anything happen to you.”
CHAPTER 46
Nandini woke up to the sounds of peacocks.
The curtains were closed, but the LED clock on the nightstand told her it was almost nine a.m.
Why didn’t anyone wake me?
She got up from the bed and rushed into the bathroom to freshen up.
Rudra must have woken up at sunrise and gone downstairs to be with his men and her family. She hoped he and her brothers were civil to each other and not exchange more punches to settle their scores.
After a quick shower and freshening up, she pulled out a new set of clothes from the trunk and wore them. Then, she brushed her hair, leaving it loose. She decided not to wear any jewelry except for the Kabali heart necklace, which had remained on her all day and night. Somehow, she was reluctant to take it off, even during sleep or showering.
It was her demon husband’s gift to her, and she hoped she could find something meaningful to gift him in return.
Smiling, she stepped out of the bedroom. She greeted the staff as she passed them by and headed down the curved staircase. But the staff stared at her as though she was a shocking anomaly.
They probably wondered why she had a smile when she was married to the Kabali heir, who was reputed to be a dangerous savage.
If only they knew that her demon husband was hot, passionate, protective, and considerate.
Continuing to smile, she went downstairs and towards the dining area. She felt happy seeing her parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law seated at the table. They were talking in low tones, and as soon as they saw her, there was silence.
Her mother got up from the chair and came towards her.
