He nods, "As you know your dad helped me, and I used to play with him."

I nod, agreeing with my knowledge of that.

"Well, the reason I stopped playing was because I took a bad hit, and it fucked my back up. I got hooked on the pain pills, led to other shit. Jack found out and almost killed my fucking ass."

Seeing the pain in Kenny’s gaze comes to surface before he drops his gaze with his hard swallow, "You cannot tell your mother this."

"Oh shit." The words whisper from my lips and Kenny hears it snorting.

Jax beside me inching around in the seat, feeling the anxiousness feeding off him, anticipating the end goal here.

"Your Dad gave me a million dollars. Told me you either kill yourself with this or change your life with this; Your dad is the reason I am here and have the club I have. I promised him I would return everything, and he told me no, but I am a man of my word to myself."

My half smile falls as my mouth begins to part.

"That money is being returned to you Macie, to buy something I found I think you will like."

My lip’s part and my stomach twists, looking up to Jax as he looks down to me.

I look back to Kenny and I swallow my breath. Kind of lost for words here and also confused.

"Did my mom not know?" I ask.

He shakes his head, "Your mother never knew about me, probably because how she’s so fucking judgmental; she was a nasty bitch back in the day."

I laugh, my eyes falling closed with my head shake, "Yeah, she was but, she was intense when it came to competing."

He nods, agreeing to that and I can’t believe I’m defending my mother, but I am.

"He knew she wouldn’t approve, and it was something we kept between us. Your dad and I have been friends since we were boys." He nods towards Jax. "Like you and Koda have been, and Sully too."

"How do you know anything about me?" Jax growls, feeling that grumpy side of Jax and Kenny chuckles, "I know more about you boy than you think I do. Just because I don’t play doesn’t mean I don’t stay up on it."

I giggle; fucking Kenny.

The waiter returns with our order, making sure everything is to our liking before she walks away.

"Now, let me eat without talking about anything business, then, we’ll finish this conversation while we walk."

I shake my head with my snorty laugh. Jax holds his stare on Kenny while he picks at his food.

And here is where you see the grumpy side of Jax. Feeling like it’s more of a possessive side to him, liking this side, but not with Kenny, he’s just forward.

As I sip on my coffee, my thumb slides across Jax’s thigh that I have my hand curled into. I let Kenny eat in peace, knowing he is a busy man and Jax calms with time.

Paying our bill, Kenny leads us outside and we walk down the sidewalk.

"I know you’ve been wanting to focus more on your silk dancing, and it shows in that performance you did. I’ve been wanting to expand, I have the reputation, and you have the skills to make something bigger."

"Spit it out Kenny." I spit, so tired of this game.

He looks up at the building beside us, only about a block from the skating rink, before his hand gestures to the building, coming to a stop, "Take a look inside." He holds up a key and nods towards the door.

I take the key and unlock the door before opening it. Stepping through the door my eyes widen, seeing an open space with big windows viewing the city, tall ceilings, the openness.

"Oh shit; Kenny, what is this?"

"Well, Keri has been wanting to get out and do a little more, what do you think?"
