Page 7 of Puck It!

Seeing a note sitting in between the stems, I dig my hand down between them, pulling the note out.

It reads….

My breath catches in my throat and panic consumes me. “Oh no.”

I don’t want anyone knowing I work here, the reason why I wear a mask, and in this club. I just don’t want the judgement.

My door opens, and I spin around in a panic and my friend Keri walks in. “What the hell is wrong with you? You look like you’ve seen a ghost. “ She snaps.

“Do you know where these flowers came from?” I ask.

“No, someone delivered them earlier, Natalie said anonymous sender.“

“Got yourself a daddy now, look at them. Two dozen too, damn girl.” She laughs with her side look.

“Oh my god No!” I laugh my words as she shuts my door, sitting on my lounge couch, and I start to peel out of my clothes and get myself dressed and ready for the night.

“Did Kenny tell you we have a big crowd tonight?”

I roll my eyes with my answer “No, he didn’t.”

“It’s the hockey team.”

My hand covers my mouth, trying to bite down the laugh and my curse, closing my eyes. You’ve got to be kidding me.

“It should be a good night; they can be a handful.” Keri giggles.

“I think I’m sick.” I start to cough before my laugh bursts out from my mouth. I can’t believe this is happening.

“What’s so funny?”

“My brother is one of those hockey players.”

She snorts a laugh before she giggles, “No, are you serious?”

“Yeah, it gets better.” I meet Keri’s playful gaze on me…

“My stepbrother is the captain.”

“Oh, dear lord, this is going to be a fun night.”

With the realization of this hitting me, I start to wonder if those flowers came from Jax, and this is why they are coming here tonight. I’m in so much trouble if I get caught.

“I need to dance in the back tonight, Keri, switch with me.”

“Oh, no girl, you’re not getting me in trouble; Kenny wants you in the front, and you don’t mess with his placements.”

My door opens and Bree walks in asking “It's show time, you girls ready?”

I look at myself in the mirror one last time, grabbing my mask from my table, I slide it over my face, only covering my eyes. And pray like hell, this night goes without getting caught.

Not So Innocent

Macie

Getting my wiggles out, head snapping from side to side, wiggling my hands and feet in my heels, getting loose preparing to go out on stage as my eyes scan the crowd.

I find the guys easily, my brother, Jax, Sully, and Dax all sit around the table, of course closest to stage. The rest of the team filling the tables around them. Those three I’ve known ever since I can remember, when I say the guys, I mean them. I’ve known them all but those three have been the longest.
