"What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means, there are several reasons I don’t want to be here Mom; Same as skating. I love to dance, and the type of dancing I do goes way beyond what you’ve seen me do. I am just getting started, and the club was my way to gain experience, and money, to get out of here so I could do what I wanted."
"Why didn’t you tell me?" her voice still filled with annoyance.
"Look at how you are acting!" Returning her annoyance.
"How do you expect me to act Macie?"
"A supportive mother instead of a judgmental one."
I shake my head with my sigh, "Look, it doesn’t matter. Jax got signed, and we are leaving."
"I can’t stop you."
"No, you can’t, but you could support me, and I promise you mom, one day, I will prove you wrong for your judgmental ways." It’s no use, she will never agree, unless my feet are in skates.
I stand and look down at her with my head shake, "Funny how you’re letting Dakota throw his talent as a goalie in the trash, but yet…" I huff annoyingly, "You aren’t up his ass." I curl my sinful smile before I walk away.
Skipping two steps at a time, I am up the stairs and in my room in seconds, throwing the little I had used and pulled out being here, back into bags.
My phone vibrates, noticing a text from Kenny.
Oh boy…
I open it and start to read…
I’m sad to be losing my best girl, but you’re better than this club. Keep shining and remember you are Jack’s daughter; you have his fire. He would be proud as I am. Send me a ticket to the big show.
My hand covers my mouth, trying to bite my cry, as the tears sting.
See, Kenny cares, and he knew my dad. They all played hockey together.
Before putting everything away, I jump in the shower, needing a minute to process this all. I’m ready for a new start, new people, new town, city wherever, I just want to go. My bathroom door opens, and I pull my head up, seeing Jax through the glass shower walk in.
"Do you know where Dakota is?" I ask, since I've been trying to find him.
"Yeah, he’s downstairs." The shower door opens, and I curl a smile, watching Jax's eyes roam down my body, before they meet mine.
"Well, are you going to get in here, or stay out there?" I tease.
"Do you want me to get in there?" He asks and I nod.
He pulls his shirt over his head, before his pants are off and he’s in the shower with me.
His hand slides up the nape of my neck, sliding his fingers through my wet hair, as he looks down at me, "Are you sure this is what you want?"
"Why are you asking me that?"
"Because I don’t want this to backfire on me, and you say you followed me."
"I smile, getting that, "I won’t say that. I’m sure."
His fingers curl into my scalp as he leans down, pulling my lips to his, and that fire between us ignites. Pushing me back against the shower wall, brushing my tongue across his, tasting and feeling all of him, all our new beginnings.
His touch between my legs, sending those shivers straight to my throbbing center. Sliding between my folds with two fingers, teasing my opening and my clit, causing a moan to hum in my throat.
His arm hooks around my waist, lifting me up, I wrap my legs around his waist, never leaving this toxic kiss our lips are creating, carrying me out of the shower and takes me to my bed.
