Sawyer clears his throat, clearly stunned by the abrupt stop. “Umm. Going out. Broadway, I think?” I rear back and he laughs.
“I’ve been inducted into the guy’s group chat. They informed me about it.” He shrugs.
“Holy shit. You got in with the grumpy bunch?” He barks out a laugh and it’s one of my favorite sounds to date.
Seeing Sawyer smile is one panty-melting thing.
Hearing him laugh? Fills my heart to the brim.
“Well, seeing as how Tucker is going to be my brother-in-law soon, and I kind of recruited Tank’s friendship shortly after I met him, it wasn’t too hard.” I can’t fight my smile knowing how well he’s getting along with my best friend’s husbands—and one’s soon to be husband.
“So, you’re not busy then? No games, or big parties to be at?” I tease.
“Nah, games are tomorrow and Thursday, and I don’t go to parties unless it’s mandatory. Not quite my scene.” He presses his forehead to mine, a playful look in his eyes.
“You’re away for tomorrow’s game, right?”
“Yes, don’t remind me,” he growls, burying his face in the crook of my neck making me giggle when he keeps nuzzling like he can’t get close enough.
“Why?”
“Because I can’t take you with me,” he mumbles into my hair then leans back and looks at me. “Can I?”
“No!” I giggle louder, making him groan in disapproval again.
“Then I’m staying here tonight.” I feel my heart stutter and Sawyer smiles against my neck. “I just wanna spend time with you, Dove. Don’t go overthinking it on me.”
“I wasn’t,” I lie.
I was one hundred percent over thinking it.
He leans up and grabs my thighs, giving them a reassuring squeeze.
“I am going to do this right for you, I promise.” He pulls one of my hands to his lips and kisses the top of it, simultaneously giving me a wink.
I stopped imagining what my first time sleeping with Sawyer would be like a long time ago. Then I stopped picturing sleeping with anyone all together, too put off by the idea of being with anyone but him in that way. So, I know no matter how it happens, it’ll be perfect because it’ll be with Sawyer—and I don’t see how that could ever not be right.
We end up ordering pizza, letting the TV play in the background and talking until I can barely hold my eyes open. Then he carries me to bed, strips down to his boxers and slides in next to me.
I’m woken up by the sound of Sawyer’s voice saying my name. At first I can’t tell if I’m still dreaming or not, so it takes me a moment to realize I’m hearing him in real life. The rasp to his sleepy, already deep seductive tone has me wetter than I already was from said dream.
“Leah,” he says again.
“Mmm,” I groan back. “What? I’m sleeping,” I mumble.
“Dove, if you don’t stop grinding your sweet little pussy on my dick in your sleep, you’re not going to be getting much more of it.” His arms are wrapped tightly around my torso, and his lips are brushing over the shell of my ear and that’s when I realize I am latched onto him like some kind of horny koala bear.
Someone just bury me under this house, please.
“I am so sorry.” I barely slide my leg over an inch before his hold on me tightens.
“Don’t you dare fucking move.”
“But I thought—” He releases me just enough to let me lift my head to look at him.
“You better have been dreaming about me.” His voice is so sexy he could probably talk me to the finish line at this point.
“Well, it wouldn’t be anyone else that’s for damn sure.” I’m grateful for the low lighting in my room because I can feel how red my cheeks have gotten.
