“Not at all.” He pulls me into a kiss, and I instantly melt into his touch. “When can we move your stuff in?”
“Tomorrow? If we’re not moving furniture, it should all fit in the back of your truck.” I shrug.
“You’re being very agreeable about this,” he teases.
“That’s because I want this too. Nowhere has ever felt more like home to me, Sawyer.” His expression grows more serious.
“You mean it?”
“With my whole heart.” He pulls me back down and tucks me beneath his arm, kissing my temple, cheek and jawline multiple times in a row until I’m in a fit of laughter.
“So…he left you the truck?”
I smile to myself. “Yeah, he did.”
“It suits you.” This man has an indescribable way of making my heart feel completely full.
“I think so too.”
“Hey Dove.”
“Yeah?” I lift my head to look up at him, surprised to find a nervous look on his face. He hasn’t looked like this since we went to Sunday dinner at my parent’s house.
“When you’re feeling up to it I would really like to take you back to Minnesota. There’s still somewhere I really wanted to take you, but I don’t want to rush you. Just—let me know when you’re ready.”
“Okay.” I’m not sure how it’ll feel being back in the place where I found out about my dad dying, but I know he would have a fit if I stopped living life and going on adventures just because I was sad. That was the whole point of the truck rides, afterall, to remind me to keep going and that heartbreak didn’t have to be the end of the road.
Who knew my dad was such a deep man?
