“Logan, can we go over some of the details for tomorrow?” Alex asks looking between the two of us as we stand there.

“Of course,” Logan agrees. “I’ll join you in the lobby in a few minutes.”

Alex raises his eyebrows at being dismissed, but with a laugh turns and walks away.

“What was that?” I ask.

“I wanted another moment alone with you before you’re busy the rest of the day,” he answers without any bit of guilt.

It’s sweet and melts me more than I would willingly admit. “Logan, you know I’m about to get grilled by my sister, and the same for you with Alex.”

He pulls me into his arms. “I do.”

“You don’t care?”

“Of course not. Every second I spend with you makes me more and more sure that I want you. Not for a quick make-out session in the hall or this weekend. I’m falling for you, Phoebe Stone and I don’t care who knows it.”

“I told you I can’t do this.” I try to pull away, but not hard enough to get away. It’s becoming exhausting to deny what I want.

“I know, but I think we can. If you tell me to leave you alone, I will, but please know that it isn’t what I want. You are worried about everyone else and I’m just focused on you.” He pauses. “That’s not true. I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t think about how a relationship between us would affect my sisters.”

I take a step back, here it comes. He’s going to say that whatever happens between us has to stay secret and can just be for fun. Something my heart will not survive.

“They adore you as much as I do. You’ve already begun helping them in areas that I know nothing about, treating them like younger sisters. Your sisters are doing it too. How lucky the three of us are to know you.”

My knees go a little weak and I fall toward him. He catches me and I yank his head to mine with much more force than I intend to. This kiss is all-consuming. He doesn’t want to hide me. What if we did try a relationship? Could this be real?

I pull back, breathing hard. “Thank you, Logan.”

“For what, baby.”

“Being you? Not being like the other men I’ve known.”

He gently kisses my forehead. “I promise that we can take this at whatever speed you need and that I’m not going anywhere.” He looks at his watch. “Except to the lobby. I’ve left Alex waiting a long time and I bet your sisters and mine are losing it in there.”

“I’m sure one of mine is at the door trying to listen in.”

“Am not,” Maggie’s muffled voice comes through the door.

Logan laughs and spins me around to the door, opens it wide, and with a pat on my butt sends me into the lioness den to face the four eager gossips waiting to hear what is happening between us.

Chapter Seven

Logan

I walk into the lobby and see Alex relaxed in a chair with his phone out. I know he runs his own business, but I’m not sure if he’s a workaholic or if he’s playing solitaire. He looks up and puts his phone away as I get closer.

“Sorry, I was trying to track down my assistant who is also my best man. He seems to have disappeared.”

“The girls couldn’t find Liz either. Could they be together?” I ask, wondering if they are working on something wedding-related.

“Damn. I didn’t see it until just now.” Alex laughs.

I’m not following, and he must be able to tell from my face.

“I think they are hooking up.” He gives me a pointed look. “Seems to be a popular occurrence at my wedding.”

Holding up my hands I sit down in the chair across from his. “I thought this is probably what you wanted to talk about.”
