I feel my resolve crumbling, my body betraying me as I lean into his touch. “Matias, I...”
He silences me with a kiss, his lips crashing against mine in a bruising, possessive gesture. I melt into him, my arms wrapping around his neck as I surrender to the heat of his embrace.
When he finally pulls away, I'm breathless. “I'll go with you,” I murmur.
Matias's eyes sparkle. “That's my good girl,” he purrs. “You won't regret this, Kali. I promise.”
I can't shake the feeling that I'm walking straight into the wolf's jaws willingly, and for some strange reason, I don’t care.

MATIAS
Kali sleeps in the passenger seat, her features softened by sleep. A small smile plays on my lips because the remote cabin I’ve rented out in the woods is isolated and far from civilization.
As I drive, my mind drifts to the plans I’ve made. No distractions or interruptions—it will be blissful isolation, with nothing to keep me from fully immersing myself in Kali.
The winding road through the dense forest is empty, save for the occasional animal darting across our path. I reach over and gently brush a stray lock of hair from Kali’s face, savoring the softness of her skin. She stirs slightly but doesn’t wake.
It’s another hour before I pull off the main road and up the driveway to the rustic and secluded cabin. That is exactly what I had in mind—cozy, intimate, and, most importantly, completely isolated. Turning off the engine, Kali remains fast asleep.
I reach over and place a hand on her shoulder, gently shaking her awake. “Kali,” I murmur. “We’re here.”
Kali’s eyes flutter open, and for a moment, there’s a look of confusion on her face. Once the haziness of sleep wears off, she gazes at the cabin, and I see the way her face pales as she realizes how isolated we really are.
“Don’t worry,” I assure her, caressing her cheek. “We’re going to have a wonderful time together, just the two of us.”
She’s about to speak, but I press my finger firmly against her lips. “Shhh,” I murmur. “No words. Let’s go inside and get comfortable.”
I exit the car and move to her side, tugging her out and guiding her toward the cabin. This is where our true journey begins, where I’ll finally have Kali to myself without any distractions. She may be afraid now, but she’ll be begging to remain here forever by the time we leave.
I glance down at the buzzing phone, Thiago’s name lighting up the screen. I swipe the message open with a low growl.
Where the fuck are you, Matias? We’re supposed to be at the meeting with Suarez.
I roll my eyes, quickly typing out a response.
Calm down, Thiago. I’m a little preoccupied at the moment. I’m going primal with my mate.
I hit send, a wicked grin spreading across my face. Thiago’s going to be pissed, but I don’t care. Right now, all that matters is Kali—my little rabbit, my obsession, my everything. Slipping my phone back into my pocket, I turn my full attention to her. She stands to one side with her arms wrapped around herself protectively.
God, she looks so fucking vulnerable, and I love it.
I open the cabin door and usher her inside. “Welcome to our little hideaway,” I announce. “Why don’t you get settled in while I whip up something to eat?”
Kali’s eyes dart around the cabin. I can see the unease in her expression. Her gaze keeps flicking back to the door as if contemplating her chances of escape.
“There’s no need to be so nervous,” I murmur. “This is our sanctuary, where it’s just you and me. No one to bother us, no one to interfere.”
She flinches at my touch, and I can’t help but chuckle. My little rabbit is so skittish, but that adds to the thrill.
“Go on, get comfortable,” I say, nudging her toward the bedroom. “I’ll be in the kitchen. You must be hungry after our journey.”
Her eyes dart toward the door once more. With a resigned sigh, she moves toward the bedroom, her steps slow and uncertain. I watch her go. Soon, she’ll realize there’s no running from me, no hiding. I’m the wolf, and she’s my little rabbit trapped in my den.
As Kali disappears from view, I turn and make my way to the kitchen, already planning out the meal I’ll prepare for us. I want it to be perfect, a feast for my captive queen. After all, I need to keep her well-fed and content.
I rummage through the cabinets and decide to make a hearty stew. As I work, I glance toward the bedroom, wondering what Kali is doing.
