I leaned into her, my hand falling to touch her knee for just a second. Her breath hitched, but she didn’t pull away. “Tell me, Luci, what is my personal reputation?”

She shrugged. “I think you know.”

“I like the company of women and am not ashamed. Just as you like the company of men.”

She frowned. Had I hit a nerve?

“Quality men.”

Ouch. That was a low blow, which I more than deserved.

“I like variety.”

“You also like to distract me.”

“From?” I was intrigued.

“Getting this contract and beating you.” Her words were practically a whisper. No way she didn’t have a dirty thought about me just then.

“You can beat me anytime you want, doll.” I chuckled. Yes, our flirting just took a turn south.

She rolled her eyes, pushing back from me. “Oh, that’s piggish, even for you, Hansen.”

I lifted my hands. “Sorry, that was tactless. But we’re on vacation, so I can be bold.”

“This isn’t a vacation. And, by the way,” she said, leaning in again, “you’re the boldest person I’ve ever met. Almost as bold as me.”

Holy shit. With that statement, I saw us having the best night of our lives, finally. I leaned in, only inches from her. We could so easily kiss and get this whole thing over with. “You are quite bold, Miss Mendez. What was it you said? And I quote, ‘He’s an absolute dick in Prada loafers, but he’s so gorgeous, I’d get in his bed for one night and rock his world. He wouldn’t be able to forget it.’”

And still she leaned in even closer. “You really should get that idea out of your mind.”

I was so aroused, I could hardly stand to be there another moment. “Nope.” For the last month I hadn’t been able to think about anything else but her promise to rock my world. Even when I have been with other women since that declaration, I’d thought of Lucia.

Lucia’s smile curled up slow, seductive. God, she knew how to make me beg for her, chase her around like a puppy dog. And I honestly didn’t know if I would feel the same after we’d quelled the sexual tension between us, but for now, she consumed me.

She stood, making me miss her more for each inch, and then feet, she was away from me. Our banter had finally crossed into new territory, and it made me think that perhaps our relationship would too.

Adjusting the slim lapels of her navy pantsuit, she glanced behind her. “Play time is over, and I’m going to my room. I’ll catch you later, Hansen Holte.”

“Good idea.” I drained the rest of the vodka in a single gulp and put a few folded bills on the bar. “I’ll go with you.”

She didn’t look back. “As tempting as it sounds, I don’t need company, sir.”

“I didn’t mean your room.” Actually, I did mean her room. Damn this woman.

Pace yourself, Hans. The week has just begun.

Shaking her head, she pivoted toward the hotel lobby.

I followed close at her heels. Her strides were surprisingly quick. She moved like a flame across the lobby, graceful and steady. Other men watched her, lust in their eyes. It made me insane to think some stranger might have her before me.

She led me straight to the elevator bank. I stepped in the elevator, the doors closing, confining us to a small space that forced me to imagine one thing, her very words reverberating in my skull: her rocking my world by any means necessary.

“Hansen…” Lucia’s voice was like that of a teacher about to reprimand her student. “What are you doing?”

The elevator opened just then on the second floor, interrupting us. Graham Morgan of Morgan Financial Holdings entered, his gaze oscillating from me to Lucia. The flirty, sexy Lucia was replaced by a hardened businesswoman with an unreadable visage. My God, that was impressive.

“Morgan, nice to see you,” I said, my confidence flowing forth. I considered Graham an acquaintance, so I didn’t hold back, or find the need to be overly professional. “Did you just get in?”
