Brandon chuckles and nods. He turns to me, his features serious and says, “If I still had any doubts, he killed them when he decided he would rather lose everything he worked for, even his revenge on my father, to set you free. He loves you. Thank you for taking him back.”
I shove him playfully as he puts his hand on his chest in a gratitude prayer. I’m sure of Kian’s love; every time he looks at me as if I’m his everything or he holds me. Every moment spent together is a testament of it. In every word, in every gesture, his love seeps through, but it’s good to hear it from others, too.
“Does he know you’ve decided against the divorce?”
“What do you mean? Of course. I mean, he should, right?”
But the thought nags at me as we keep walking around the aquarium.
“It’s like I am walking with a snail,” Brandon complains.
“It just so happens that I am pregnant.”
“You’re carrying a few extra pounds, not half of the world!”
I smack him on the arm and he laughs.
“I missed you,” he says, and I grin and confess the same.
“Me, too, you brat.”
We stride through the movie theater, and we end up watching a cartoon.
“Everyone is staring,” he mouths under his breath, and I shrug.
“Let them, it says above twelve, and it’s a family movie.”
“For children.”
“I have one.”
“Still in your stomach. That doesn’t count.”
He mumbles the entire time until the movie begins. Lucky for him, I was one second away from throwing my soda at his face.
After the movie ends, we go back. My limbs are heavy with the need to sleep, I can’t stop yawning the entire ride with the elevator.
“That was fun,” he says.
“Yes, it was.”
“Thank you,” he says, gratitude dancing in his warm eyes.
I wave him off. “Don’t be silly. I love you.”
He hugs me and I let the embrace continue until he takes all the comfort he needs.
The elevator dings, and when the doors slide open, he ends the hug.
We walk into the penthouse and my husband is already home. He slowly peruses me, causing goosebumps to scatter all around my body.
“No wonder you got pregnant when you look at each other like that,” Brandon teases.
I’ve missed my man and now that he’s near me, everything is back to normal. I smile and Kian flashes me his pearly teeth before he wraps his hands around me––cocooning me in my favorite place.
“Did my girls have fun?”
“Yes, we did,” I beam
