I would’ve thought she’d be done with the Hardisons after her public breakup with Grant, hence my confusion. But the Jed clown, he looked too comfortable.

Too friendly.

Too they shouldn’t be together because I was too interested in her when all rationality was telling me it’s wrong.

That I can’t be, and that it’s impossible.

“Have you chosen a VP yet?” Lexi asks, turning some pages in her notepad as I fish my phone out. “I didn’t see any comments about it when asked.”

“That’s still in the works,” I reply, resting my arm on the top of the leather headrest. “But I do have my eye set on one person.”

But the one person I currently have my eyes on I want to strangle, fuck, and smother all in the same action.

“Home security,” Lexi continues. “Do you—”

I snap my attention back to her. “Lexi, off the record?”

“Of course.”

“You honestly don’t care about all of this. I chose you to do an interview with me because you’re different than the other bloggers and reporters. So get to the good stuff so you can get more views and followers.”

Her face flushes, and she jiggles her foot. "You're right, but my questions are invasive and personal."

I smirk. "All you can do is ask, and I can choose not to answer. At least you had the courage and opportunity to ask them."

Glancing quickly at my phone, Reagan’s text to Chase is the first thing that catches my eye.

Reagan: How long does laxatives work on someone?

I snort. This woman is something altogether something else.

And I have no idea nor am I going to urge her doing that to me either.

“Favorite movie.”

My brows snap as I peer up at Lexi. “Really?”

“No one really knows you, this makes you a human being.”

“And I’m not now?”

"No offense, Governor," she alludes as she fiddles with her pen. "But you're on a bunch of campaign ads, and, while you're handsome, you are stoic and mysterious."

Good.

"I get that a lot." Which I could give two shits about, but Emmy is up my ass about it all the time.

“Is that on the record?” Lexi presses.

I nod. “Absolutely. I’m just a very private guy. I’m more of a homebody.”

That’s actually the truth, if I gave myself any sort of personal time to decompress and relax for a day.

“What do you like to do in your free time?”

"Video games." Figured if I kept with the most kind of guy answer, I'd be alright.

Lexi’s eyes perk. “Really? Which ones?”
