“What’s going on?” My dad’s voice draws my eyes up to him.
“Fucking Ari. Did she tell you she was going out?”
“She didn’t say anything to me.” Dad glances at Elena, who shakes her head.
“She came down earlier and said you were still sleeping. I thought she went back up to your room. Where did she go?”
“To fucking meet Jace.”
My dad frowns. “She shouldn’t be going out alone, not while that boy is still on the loose. Who knows where he might be hiding.”
“Or who’s helping him. Jace is his best friend.” I walk toward the door. “I’m going to go and get her.”
“Slow down. Do you know where she is?”
“She said she was just leaving the Country Club.”
“Then the chances are you’re going to miss her. There’s no point in you driving over there when she’s probably already nearly home.”
He’s not wrong, but I don’t like it. I shove my cell back into my pocket and continue out of the study.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to wait outside for her.”
***
Me: Where are you?
Me: Ari? Fucking answer me.
Me: Where the fuck are you?
I’m pacing up and down the drive when my dad comes out.
“She’s not back yet? It’s been over an hour.”
“She’s not answering her messages, either.”
“Have you tried calling her?”
“Twice.”
I look down at the cell in my hand.
ME: If you don’t fucking answer me, I’m going to switch on the tracker Kellan installed on your cell and hunt you down. When I find you, I’m going to punish you.
That gets a response.
Kitten: Sounds kinky.
I frown.
Me: Where the fuck are you?
Kitten: You tell me. You’re the one with a tracker.
I don’t have a fucking tracker on her cell. At least, I don’t think there is.
