“Maybe I’ll just ask Kellan myself.”
He pauses, mid-thrust. “Ari—”
“No.” I cut him off before he can try to order me around again. “You’re not hiding things from me. You made me promise to be open and honest. That goes two ways.”
Eli swears under his breath and starts to fuck me again, this time pumping into me fiercely. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I bury my fingers in his hair. He’s angry, and I can feel every inch of his frustration in the way he takes me. He doesn’t like my decision, but I’m not going to let him talk me out of it. I need to know everything. He needs to learn that he can’t keep me wrapped up in cotton wool, like something fragile and delicate.
My inner walls clench around his length, my orgasm claiming me. His mouth finds mine, swallowing my cry as I come undone in his arms.
He growls against my lips, pushing his cock inside me as far as my body will allow, as he finds his own release. Our ragged breathing is heavy in the dark of the closet.
I hug him tightly. “I’m glad we could have this talk.”
He gives a soft laugh as he pulls out of my body and steps back. A second later, light explodes into life above me. Blinking fast, I try to dispel the black spots dancing before my eyes. When my vision finally clears, Eli is rolling the used condom off his cock.
“We’ll talk to Kellan together.” He ties a knot in it, and tucks himself away in the front of his sweatpants. “Okay?”
I ease myself off the bench and lower my skirt. “Deal.”
“Don’t think you’re always going to get your own way, Kitten.”
Running my fingers up his chest, I glance up at him through my eyelashes.
“Don’t be grumpy with me. You know I’m right about keeping me in the loop. You’re already with me every second of the day.”
Eli rakes a hand through his hair. “And yet you’re still worrying about it.”
My playful mood dims. “Of course, I am. They punished me before for not doing what I was ordered. They hurt Miles. Went through my things, stalked me, taunted me. Even with you and Kellan at my side all the time, the thought of them still watching me leaves me sick. I lived with this for months, Eli. My fear of it won’t just magically disappear.”
His gaze drops from mine. “Ari—”
The last bell rings out from the hallway outside.
“We should go and get dinner. I’m hungry.” Not waiting for him to finish what he was about to say, I open the storage closet door and step outside into the empty hallway.
Chapter 93
Eli
“Ari’s asking questions.”
Kellan looks up from the laptop he’s taking apart. “About what?”
“Whether we’ve made any progress on who’s behind the texts.”
He scratches his jaw. “What did you tell her?”
“That we’d talk to you.”
He makes a show of peering behind me. “I don’t see her.”
“Kell.” His name is a growl.
“You can’t keep her protected forever, but okay. I’ll tell you what I know, and you can decide what you want to share with her. Where is she?”
“Out on a run with Miles. I was banned from going along.” My lips twitch. “She seems to think I might drag her into the woods and have my wicked way with her.”
“Is she wrong?”
