“You sure about that, brother?” Roman asked. “It’s a little quick.”
Lukas didn’t take offense, just rolled his eyes. “I don’t recall giving you shit about moving a certain little kindergarten teacher in with you after just a few weeks. And if memory serves…”—Lukas tilted his head and tapped his finger against his lips—“oh yeah, that’s right, you were accepting her favors as payment for a debt. At least I know Reina’s not using me for anything.”
Roman flipped him off. “You better shut the hell up about my wife.”
“Or what? You going to kick my ass?”
Roman snorted. “Hell, no. I’ll just tell Sarah what you said.”
Lukas could feel color leaching out of his face. “You fucker. You wouldn’t dare.”
Sarah would cry. Nobody could stand to see sweet little Sarah cry. Especially right now when she was eight months pregnant and so miserable.
Lukas turned to Dominic. “Sarah is the best thing that ever happened to Dickwad.” He pointed a thumb at Roman. “I celebrate the day she came into his life. And while I’m at it, Cassandra is the best thing that ever happened to you. You’re my witness that I said those things. Okay?” He turned to Roman, glaring. “Don’t you dare tell Sarah I said something mean.”
Roman studied his fingernails. “I’ll think about it.”
Dominic smiled. “Look, I’m glad about Reina. She’s a sweet girl. And before we lose you completely as you follow your dick straight over to her honeypot, I just wanted to make you aware of an… anomaly in our computer system. Hell, I’m not sure what else to call it but that.”
“What’s going on?” Lukas asked.
“It looks like some sort of program is filtering out money, but it’s pretty convoluted, so we’re not sure yet.”
Roman sat up straighter. “Someone is stealing from us?”
Dominic held up a hand. “If they are it’s not very much, and it’s not just us. I’m not even sure that’s what is happening. I just wanted to bring it up.”
“I thought we were unhackable,” Roman said. “That’s why our business system is in a completely separate server room from everything else and not remotely accessible.”
Dominic nodded. “Yes. It wasn’t a remote breach. That’s why the man I have on it is calling it an anomaly, because in order for a breach like this to happen, the person would’ve had to be on site in our server room in Deeper Threat. Our guy thinks it’s probably some bug inside the system. We’ll find it and work it out.”
Lukas stood. “Good. Keep me posted. I’m out of here.” He turned back to waggle his eyebrows at them from the door. “I’ve got some honey that needs eating.”
