That night I found the strength within me and I also gained an enemy in Al.

They hurt me in imaginable ways but I always fought back even if I ended up worse for it.

Raise hell.

It hurt but I did it all because of the man in black who gave me strength without even realizing it.

Thunder booms bringing me back from the past, I bend over, pick up the black gloves, and gently put them on him. Every single part of him is beautiful and it feels like a crime to hide his skin under all that black but I put his gloves on because if they mean as much as mine do to me then he wouldn’t want them off on the floor. Once the gloves are on, I look at him one more time. All that raven hair disheveled makes him seem less scary and even vulnerable dare I say.

My dark prince…

My dragon.

Reaching forward, I pushed back a strand of black hair away from his face. “You need to go. You need to leave before I ruin you or worse… you ruin me.” I whisper before rising from the bed and heading out the door.

How is it possible to both hate and love someone with the same intensity?

But that’s a secret I’ll take to my grave.

Vitali

Even through the pain and the drug haze, I was able to hear the sweet confession of my angel. My beautiful angel in black.

“You need to go. You need to leave before I ruin you or worse… you ruin me.”

Funny how she thinks she’s heartless but I know that is a lie.

Her heart is there. Broken, hurt, and barely beating but there inside her chest. It’ll only be a matter of time before it’s in my hands where it was always meant to be and where it will always be safe.

Always.

Chapter 9

KADRA

SWEET HEIR

“Pretending to be polite is exhausting.” – K

“Boss, how long will the Russian be here?” Crow mumbles between bites like a pig.

He’s one if not my strongest and most lethal mercenary but what he has in strength he lacks in table manners and proper etiquette.

Taking a sip of my tea, I look at him and raise my brow in question. “Why do you care?”

“Just wondering. That’s all.” He shrugs and smirks looking boyish as if he knows something I don’t.

I sip my tea quietly and then place the cup down on the ceramic plate. “Don’t worry about Solonik. He’ll be gone soon enough.” Clearing my throat, I pick up my napkin and pat the corner of my lips lightly without smearing my cherry lip gloss. “How is he today?” I ask, watching as Crow finishes his second plate. The man loves to eat as much as he likes to play with his prey. Out of all of my men, he has always been my wild card. The one whose darkness everyone misses because they’re too busy being charmed by his joyful personality and good looks.

“He’s alright. You know what they say. Bad weed never dies.” He jokes, winking at Azariel playfully then turns his stare back to me. The smile on his face widens. The jackass. “The big fucker is sleeping like a baby, but that’s to be expected. Dr. Croix says he’ll be coming in and out of it while he recuperates. He came by to check up on Solonik.”

I knew this of course.

How do I know this?

I woke up at the crack of dawn and the first thing I did was check on him. He was sleeping soundly and looking better than he did last night. He’s recuperating at a good fast pace. The sooner he gets better the sooner he can exit this house. Vitali Solonik is not only a threat to my heart but to my sanity as well. “Alright,” I lean back in my chair, crossing my legs and getting comfortable. “Make sure the doctor has everything he needs to fully heal him.”
