“I love y–” But then, as if fate hates me, the monitors start going off, and Sebastian’s eyes roll to the back of his head.
No.
No.
Don’t leave.
Stay with me.
Hold on.
“Help!” I scream at the top of my lungs. “Someone, please!” Holding tightly to his hand, I tell him. “I am here, baby. I am here. Stay with me. Please, fight.” I rasp.
“You need to leave, miss.” An older man, a doctor, tells me as he moves, quickly checking Sebastian while he is still trashing.
“Sebastian! What is going on?” I scream at the nurses gathering around him. “Someone please tell me…” I cry out.
A sweet-looking young nurse smiles apologetically at me. “Loss of oxygen to the brain… I am so sorry you need to step out.” My hand slips from his when I am being pulled back and escorted out of the room. No. I rise from the wheelchair, refusing to leave him alone. “The war is over, baby. Come back to me.” I whisper once he’s blocked from my view, and they work on him. Once he is out of sight, I fall against someone’s chest and sob so loud that my heart feels like it’s losing a battle, along with Sebastian’s. Twenty minutes later, the doctor comes out with a sullen look on his face and the news that the man who owns my heart has left me.
