‘I know when you’re lying. Look at me.’
I turned around slowly, realising I was only postponing the inevitable.
Trudy’s brows knitted together. Her eyes narrowed, then she gasped.
‘Oh my God!’ She jumped out of her seat. ‘Something happened with Liam last night, didn’t it?!’
‘Yeah…’ I returned to my desk. ‘We had sex.’
‘Knew it!’ She ran over and threw her arms around me. ‘Didn’t I say that you’d get together?’ She squeezed me so hard I could hardly breathe.
‘We’re not together… we just… it just… happened.’
‘Yeah, sure. He was lying there naked and you accidentally fell on his dick! Why didn’t you tell me sooner?’ She perched on the edge of my desk. ‘You should’ve called me last night to give me a blow-by-blow account, pardon the pun. Then again, I bet you were busy blowing Liam like a trumpet!’ Trudy threw her head back, laughing. ‘I know I would’ve!’
‘Oh God.’ I shook my head. ‘There was no time to call. After we finished in the kitchen, we moved to the shower…’
Trudy’s eyes flew so far from their sockets, they probably landed on the moon.
‘Wait, what? You had sex in the kitchen? Where? On the floor? Against the fridge? No! Don’t tell me you had kitchen counter sex?’ I nodded, a smile touching my lips. Trudy’s jaw dropped. ‘Classic! Who the hell are you and what have you done with my best friend?’
‘I know.’ A huge grin spread across my face. I was trying to play it cool, but I’d never been cool in my life, so no point attempting to start now.
As annoying as it was that Trudy had predicted this, I had to admit it was pretty amazing. Exciting things like last night never happened to me.
‘I thought you’d be worried about it being unhygienic and getting your happy juices everywhere!’ Trudy belly laughed.
‘I’m sorry, what did you just call it? Happy juices?’
‘What?’ She shrugged. ‘Is that not an accurate description?’
‘Anyway’—I waved my hand in the air—‘normally, I would’ve been worried, but I was too busy focusing on Liam’s head between my legs…’ I smirked.
‘Wait! He fucked you and went down on you? Holy shit! You are officially the luckiest woman alive! And?’
‘And what?’
‘What do you mean, and what? I need details! How was it? How big is he? Are the rumours true? Did he go all night? And wait… I was so busy trying to process the whole kitchen counter sex thing, I completely forgot that you mentioned you did it in the shower too! Tell me everything!!’
By the time I’d finished filling Trudy in on how Liam had made me come twice when he’d pinned me against the shower wall and one more time this morning, her jaw was several hundred metres below the earth.
‘I’m bloody speechless. You literally went from nun to sex freak in one night! No wonder you’re walking funny. I’m so happy for you, babes.’ She threw her arms around me. ‘You deserve this. And despite his reputation, Liam’s a good guy.’
‘Yeah. He even made me breakfast this morning.’
‘The man’s a keeper. Just like I told you from the beginning. Clearly I should become a matchmaker! When you two are walking down the aisle, don’t forget to give me a shout-out at the altar. Let everyone know that your best mate brought you two lovebirds together!’
‘We’re not together!’ I rolled my eyes. ‘Last night was just a one-off.’
‘Five big Os doesn’t sound like a one-off to me!’
‘I mean, it was just one night. It won’t happen again. I’m sure of that.’
Liam had pretty much confirmed it. When I’d stupidly blurted out that I’d be happy for him to ‘practise’ on me as much as he wanted, I saw the flash of horror on his face. He clearly didn’t want me to get the wrong idea. The shower shag and this morning was just a final hurrah. Or to ease his guilt. I wasn’t complaining. I knew not to expect anything more from him.
‘If you two don’t bang again, I’ll give you a million pounds.’
‘You don’t have a million pounds.’
