Once I’d showered, I crept into the spare room. My phone sounded and I quickly switched it to silent and closed the door. It was almost midnight. Trudy had texted.

Trudy

OMG. OMG. OMG!! This is SO exciting! Can’t you just accidentally fall into Liam’s bed?

Me

Why?

Trudy

So you can find out if the rumours that he’s hung like a horse are true. Please! Do it for meeeee!

Full disclosure. I may have wondered once or twice whether they’d stuffed something down his boxer shorts in those underwear ads he starred in because that bulge looked too big to be real. But there was no way I was telling Trudy that. Or letting my eyes drop to his crotch.

Me

No! I have my own room and my own bed, and that’s exactly where I’ll be staying. Anyway, I thought you looked at those photos online?

Trudy

Spoilsport! The photos could have been altered. Seeing his man meat in the flesh will give me proper confirmation!

Trudy

You must be the only woman on earth who doesn’t want to jump Liam Stone’s bones.

Trudy

There’s no way I’d be able to sleep knowing that sex god was in the next room.

Me

I’ll sleep just fine. On my own. Anyway. I need to sort out this airbed.

Trudy

Can’t believe you’re choosing to sleep on a poxy airbed when you could be sleeping on top of Liam.

I added a row of eye roll emojis before wishing her goodnight.

After resting my phone on one of the boxes, I pulled out the airbed pump, plugged it in and connected it to the mattress. Then I realised that I didn’t have anything to wear to bed. I should’ve asked Liam for a T-shirt.

Normally I wrapped my hair in a silk headscarf too, but I’d have to do without that tonight.

The bed began inflating, but minutes later, a weird sound filled the air. The pump had stopped. The bed was barely a couple of inches off the ground. I looked for the power button and switched it off, then on again. Still nothing.

I tried the same thing with the plug on the wall. No joy.

After trying several more times, I gave up. I’d just have to sleep on the flat mattress. I threw the bedsheets Liam had left in the room over the top, wrapped the duvet around my naked body, then moved another box away from the bed to create more space.

Just as I was about to turn off the light and lie down, a huge hairy spider ran out and headed towards the mattress.

OMG.

I screamed so loudly my eardrums almost burst. My heart raced and my body froze.

Before I had time to work out my next move, the bedroom door flew open and Liam burst in.
