“Cut!” the director called out to the cast and crew. “That’s a wrap for today, ladies and gentlemen. I’ll see you on set bright and early at 8AM tomorrow morning.”

Those were the best words I had heard all day. The need to chuck this wardrobe and put distance between me and this movie set was overwhelming. Rumor had it that George DeLeon, our world-famous director, was thinking of replacing me as the lead actress. I would die if that happened. Not to mention my career would be buried along with me.

Quiet as it’s kept, the role should have gone to another actress, but my manager, Shelia, worked her magic and convinced the producers to cast me. I should have never let her talk me into playing an action hero. The amount of experience I had couldn’t fill a thimble. Yet, here I was, ruining this film and wasting everyone’s time. I knew it. George knew it. The cast and crew did too.

“Aja, a word!”

It wasn’t a request. When George beckoned, you came like a fake porn star. Loud and often.

“Hey, George. What can I do for you?”

“How about getting some acting lessons?”

Damn! That was harsh. I felt the heat rise on my neck as I looked around to see if anyone had overheard his comment. He was rude, but he wasn’t wrong. I was in way over my head on this one. Being an action star was not now, nor has it ever been in my wheelhouse. This role was supposed to stretch me as an actor, according to Shelia.

“Oh, George, I had no idea you had a sense of humor.”

I tried to laugh it off but failed miserably. It was not my day.

“Look at my face, Aja. Does it look like I’m laughing?”

I did look at his face and it took every ounce of my acting chops not to gag. He was bald, pale and had potholes all over his gnarly face. The man looked like he entered puberty and never left. I smiled at him as the bile rose in my throat.

“No, sir. It doesn’t”

“Look, I’m not going to sugar coat things for you. There hasn’t been any improvement in your acting since the last time I spoke with you. When you come to set tomorrow, I need you to bring your a-game. I don’t know what the disconnect is for you, but you had better fix it or you’ll be looking for a new job by the weekend. Got it?”

Well, damn.

“Don’t worry about a thing. I promise I will be better. I appreciate the opportunity to work with such a skilled director and I will not squander my chance to be in this movie. You can count on me.”

As soon as I walked away, I rolled my eyes. George was one of the biggest directors in Hollywood and it was not easy to work with him. Instead of finding ways to help the cast improve, he resorted to threats, intimidation, and humiliation. He went out of his way to make my life hell. The man was chomping at the bit to kick me out on my ass and replace me with the little tart he was currently fucking.

I was not going to go easy. Truth was, I was bored. This movie could really be good, but he was so dull that his energy made me disinterested. I needed to step my pussy up. I just needed to figure out how I was going to do that by this weekend.
