“I know.”
“I came here to something remarkable, and I deserve it.”
“There’s my confident girl.” He grins.
“Now get out so I can get dressed before I contact Louis Scott.”
Trevor scurries from the bathroom leaving me alone with my thoughts and dreams.
Just then, my phone buzzes with a text.
Mitch:
Hey. I have to leave again. I haven’t even told Trev yet. I wanted to talk to you before I go, but I can’t.
I don’t even have time to reply before the next message comes in.
Mitch:
Don’t think you’re not on my mind, Beats, because you are. Hopefully, I can reach out more this time since we’re remaining stateside.
I contemplate what he’s shared and not shared. His job interfered with his being able to contact me, but he can’t come right out and say it. I take a moment before writing back.
Austyn:
I don’t expect the world, but I expect respect.
Mitch:
And you deserve it.
His text comes back almost instantly.
Austyn:
Then don’t get so caught up in the world you forget about the woman you’re trying to seduce.
Dots move before the message appears.
Mitch:
Point taken. I’ll touch base.
Appreciating the fact, he’s sharper than the average male, I take a quick picture of the bubble bath I just finished luxuriating in and send along with the text:
Austyn:
Safe travels.
Mitch:
Yeah, you’ll definitely be hearing from me. Jesus, Austyn.
Knowing my work is done, I drop my phone and relax.
