CHAPTER ELEVEN

“You don't really think they are going to contact each other,” my partner Craig asked.
I shrugged. “I’ve seen people do crazier things for love. I doubt he will contact her, she is more likely to take the risk.”
“You really think she could love this dirtbag?”
“I know she could. I know he took care of her, look at her, does that look like someone imprisoned in Iran for several months. He protected her and killed her abusive husband. She owes him, at least in her eyes she does.”
“Farid is out to complete a mission his father started and died before he was able to complete,” I added. “And we killed his wife and son, so there is no love lost there for uson his front. Make no mistake, he is a monster. But he has a reputation for being completely intolerant of people who abuse women and children, even within his ranks. She mentioned he rescued her from what was about to become a gang rape, and the man he pulled out of her was made to feel like she did.
“That means he didn't kill him, he had him raped, and then he killed him. And once he realized Chaz had abused her, he likely no longer cared about information he could provide. That man died a very slow and painful death, I promise you that.”
“So why did he send her home? Why didn't he just keep her?”
“Because we found the compound and the safety of the woman he loves would come above all else. He sent her home without asking for anything in return.”
