"Moretti." I answer.
"Have you ever looked on Keres's death reports?" He goes straight to the subject. I frown at his question.
"She died because a bullet went straight in her brain, Arius. So no, I didn't read the reports."
"The doctors that wrote them are dead." I stop all my movements. "Bullet to the brain too."
"Who the fuck did this?" I ask while fire takes ahold of my body.
"Still working on the cameras, but that's not all." I squeeze the phone in my hand. What else?
"The reports aren't complete. They give you just a few details on the brain, but they didn't mentioned her whole body." I'm getting more and more impatient and if he's not saying what he has to say I'll kill him through the phone.
"Get to the fucking point, Arius."
"I hacked into one of the doctor's computers, and it seems that Keres was seventeen weeks pregnant." And at that the time stops.
My muscles are frozen, my blood stopped and all I could hear and feel is my heart who beats so fast that it'll burst.
There's no way Keres was pregnant, I...can't think of anything else.
But anger.
I grab the glass that was standing on my office and I smash it to the wall. The adrenaline comes at a fast speed and the beast in me is ready to have her killer's heart in my hands.
Keres was pregnant.
I start laughing and I grab another glass from the bar and smash it to the floor.
How ironic life can be.
Seventeen weeks pregnant so that means her belly was a little prominent. How fucking blind can I be?
One moment I'm happy that I'm a step closer to make Althea fully mine and one moment I find out that Keres was pregnant.
I continue laughing like it's the funniest shit ever.
I hear steps coming from downstairs and then my office door is opened wildly.
Althea looks alarmed around the room and sees pieces of the glass on the floor.
She comes next to me and eyes me with caution.
"Minutes ago you were fine and now you throw glasses at walls like it's a fucking sport? And why are you laughing?" I straighten my back and look down at her, admiring her courage.
"You shouldn't be here." I whisper and my control is limited.
"Yet I am." She whispers back.
The last time I hidden something from her we fought and didn't speak for a week. Telling Althea that her sister was pregnant can end in many ways. But she needs to know from me.
"Arius called and," I don't know how to say it. Either way is bad enough. Althea looks at me and I know she wants to snap at me for talking my time, but she'll understand. "Keres was seventeen weeks pregnant."
I watch her reaction but all she does is widen her eyes. Then she looks at the glass on the floor and then again at me. She looks like she's having an internal war with herself.
"Did Arius find the guy?" She asks with a low voice.
"Not yet." I watch her palms turn into fists and how her eyes close. "We'll find him, Althea. And I promise to kill him in the slowest way possible."
