"What the fuck is going on?" I ask angry.
"Boss, these men claim they have delivery for Mrs. Moretti." One of the guards informs me.
Delivery that needs a damn truck?
I turn to the car and see Althea outside of it, looking at us with a raised eyebrow. I point my finger in her direction and motion for her to come next to me.
She does without saying a word.
"Did you order something the size of a truck?" I ask her when she's inches away. Althea frows and shakes her head.
She's not talking with me. Interesting.
"Lower your guns." I say with a rough voice. I turn toward the two men who look at us with wide eyes. "Open the truck." I tell them and they obey immediately.
One of them opens the door and two growls appear from inside of it.
I put myself in front of Althea and the guards are holding their guns again. I feel Althea's hands on mine and I turn a little to her face. Her eyes are round and her lips are parted. Althea pushes me away and goes to the truck, but I catch her arm quickly.
"What do you think you're doing?" I spit. Whatever is in that truck, I know that it's alive and has sharp teeth.
"Let me go, Keaton." My other name feels wrong from her lips. I bring her closer to me and I look down at her.
"Stay back while I check that damn growl." I say in a low voice. Althea sighs exasperated.
"I think it's a package from Venus." I look at her showing her that I don't give a fuck who sent her whatever it's in there.
One of the delivery men is trying to take out the package but the growl quickly changes into a powerful bark.
Althea's head turns into their directions and she frees herself from my grip and this time I can't catch her. She goes in front of the truck and the bark stops. My men are still standing on their positions.
I see a smile stretching over Althea's face and then
the bark comes again but in a crying tone.
"Oh, i miei bambini." Her soft voice makes all of us frown.
She takes out with the help of the two men, two big metal cages in which are furry creatures. And it takes even an idiot to realize what creatures.
The animals are getting too impatient and Althea opens one of the cages, letting out a big, gray Great Dane. His years are pointed and the shiny fur hurts your eyes. That damn thing is half her height.
Althea makes gentle noises at the big dog and its butt is shaking like crazy. The other cage is moving hard and she quickly opens the door. In a second, the black Dobermann jumps over her and it takes everything in me to not put a bullet in that dog.
Althea is smiling like I've never seen before. The dogs are over her, licking her face, but she doesn't mind at all. She scratches their heads and says sweet things to them.
I'm not jealous over some dogs... or at least, I'm trying to convince myself I'm not.
I go next to her and she sees the raised eyebrow I have. I extend my hand to her and she takes it. I pick her up but the dogs are still glued to her.
I turn toward my men and I dismiss them and the elderly men are almost running away from this place.
I look at my wife and I wait for an explanation.
"They are my dogs." She simply says and that makes me laugh. She looks weirdly at me and I shake my head.
"I'm not letting them into the house." I say and look at the dirt bags. The Great Dane growls at me and I bite the temptation to growl back.
"Anubis, shush." Althea makes the dog stop growling.
