Me, on the other hand… I was less sure how much longer I could pull this double-agent thing off.

And then there was the whole Fiona issue.

I had to think of a plan, and fast.

I pulled a few of the enforcers aside as the rest of my men led the rogue wolves to our cars. “Don’t leave them unsupervised. It could still be a trap. Make sure that they are fed and have their necessities. I need to speak with the Sheriff. He’s going to have more questions about all this. It’s best if I head them off now.”

As much as I wanted to believe that these men were being honest, I wanted to be careful. I wouldn’t put my pack in danger on their word alone. They would need to earn my trust. If Sawyer could be a double agent, so could anyone.

Chance bowed his head. “We’ll make sure of it. Should some of us accompany you?”

I shifted my feet and fought the urge to look over my shoulder. Lincoln’s and Sawyer’s eyes bore into me. I should say yes, but only a few people knew that Sawyer was on our side. I couldn’t risk the wrong person finding out.

“No. Lincoln will come with me. The Sheriff has been helpful to us, and I believe the threat to be neutralized for the time being.”

Sawyer huffed behind me. There shouldn’t be anyone else.

Lincoln’s response was a gruff growl. You thought that before. How can you be sure now?

I forced a smile and clasped my hands together as I addressed Chance. “We’ll be a few hours at the most.”

That should give me and Lincoln enough time to convince Sawyer.

Chance wiped his hands on his pants as he took a few steps back. His gaze shifted to Lincoln. “Be careful. Take care of our alpha, and call if you need anything.”

Lincoln placed both hands on my shoulders. “I won’t let anything happen to her. She’s right. It should only take us a few hours at the most.”

Chance opened his mouth like he might say something else, but then he shut it and walked to his car.

I waited until everyone headed back to their cars and the engines roared to life before speaking again. Where are you, Sawyer? We need to see the real you.

He ran a hand through his hair. Just outside of town. I can meet you.

My mind raced with places we could meet that would be away from prying eyes. There were a few motels, but the downfall of a small town was people knew me, and checking into a hotel with two hot guys would draw attention.

It needed to be someplace private but also off pack lands. We were watching our borders, and I would hope that my enforcers would notice if Sawyer snuck onto pack territory even if he was a friendly.

I grinned as a thought occurred to me. How far away from the park are you? The entrance is along the main drag. This time of day, it should be quiet.

I passed it about a mile back. I can meet you there.

Butterflies flickered in my belly. I’d have both my men with me together for the first time in what felt like ages. If I had my way, we’d never be separated again.

Lincoln hit his palm on the hood of the car. We’ll be there in just a few minutes.

Sawyer reached out like he wanted to touch me, but instead, he gave me a small smile before disappearing.

I suppressed the urge to let out a happy squeal as I hurried to the driver’s seat. I yanked the door open with shaking hands and sat down. It took me a few tries to buckle my seat belt because my hands trembled so badly.

Lincoln put a hand over mine and pushed the buckle into the clutch. “Breathe, sweetheart.”

I closed my eyes for a few seconds and let out a breathy laugh. “I don’t know why it feels like a first date.”

He put his hand over the top of mine as I put the car into gear. “For the first time, we have the opportunity to all be together moving forward. I feel it too.”
