“Yeah.”

“Perfect.”

So much for telling him it’s over.

Once I’ve picked up the wine and food, we’re parking in his spot below his building. We take the elevator up to his apartment and while I’m trying to seem casual, I’m freaking out a little.

He’s adorable, even after being disheveled and handled by Danny. The man is so fucking rough with him. Not that Cole can’t handle it. But it’s not how I would… will do it.

I push away all the fears. If I’m ending my career this weekend, I’m going to make it count.

Cole is fun and flirty and deserves one good night before I get fired.

He unlocks the door and when we step in, I’m surprised by how nice the place is. It’s not only clean but hardly anything is out of place.

There are marble counter tops, laminate floors and glass doors past the kitchen. I set everything on the counter and he leads me to the balcony.

He opens the door that’s surrounded by plants and steps into the cool night air.

“Wow,” I blurt out loud.

The view is incredible. The ocean is miles away and we’re in the city where lights and traffic make up the view. But it’s gorgeous.

“Yeah, I like to come out here and think..” He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. “I like to do some writing out here.”

I look down at him. “What do you write?”

His eyes open again but he doesn’t look at me. It’s too dark to see if he’s blushing, but with how he holds back, I can tell he’s hesitant to answer.

“Some poetry. A few stories here and there.”

“That’s great.”

He doesn’t say anything more on the matter and I drop it.

“Let me get our food ready if you’d like to pour the wine.”

“Okay.”

We go inside and work side by side to get the meal ready.

Part of me feels ridiculous. This guy is not only my employee but he’s ten years younger than me.

“It smells delicious,” he says, closing his eyes and taking in the lovely aroma.

“Chicken Alfredo, it’s my favorite.”

“I can’t wait to try it.”

He resumes pouring till both glasses are half full, then puts the bottle in the fridge.

Once on the patio again, I set the table and we take our seats.

Cole is quick to chug a bit of the wine.
