“I think I’m going to die,” I say into his leather cut.
“At least we won’t have to tell everyone now.” He kisses my head.
“Congrats, brother. And welcome to the club.” Charger claps Throttle on the shoulder.
“And what club is that?” Throttle tightens his arm around me, and I smile awkwardly next to his side.
“The hopelessly in love, couldn’t believe I waited this long, club.”
“Oh. That one. Yeah, I’d say I was already in it.”
I gasp out loud. My heart hammers and I look up at Throttle, but he doesn’t return the glance.
Did he… did he just confess he loves me?
Throttle
I hope Tequila didn't catch on to the small love declaration I gave her. If she had, she said nothing, but her extra quietness suggested otherwise. Something was off.
Did I fuck up? Move too fast? Confessing I loved her in front of Charger might not have been the best idea, despite my long-standing feelings. Though I didn’t say the words, the confession was still there.
Shit.
Tequila struts outside, her miniskirt fluttering in the wind. Did I enjoy pleasuring her in it? Yes. Do I like every asshat in the club checking out my girl? Hell no.
I toss the cigarette I never smoked and push off my ride.
“You waited for me?” Her sweet, seductive voice goes straight to my dick.
Down boy.
“I’ll always wait for you.” I slide my hands onto her hips and jerk her into me.
With a smile, she wraps her slender arms around my neck. “I know, but… I guess I’m waiting for this all to be a dream.”
My heart breaks, and I cradle her beautiful face. “Babe, this is real. We are real. And I’m going to have to be six feet under and not breathing for this not to happen.
Her eyes widen. “Don’t say that.” Her grip around me tightens, and a hint of fear flashes in her eyes.
My job has no guarantees.
“It’s true. I’m not going anywhere and you and me will always be together until I’m no longer walking this Earth.” I kiss her. Devour her mouth. Claiming her to me once more.
I draw her near again, enveloping her in my embrace, ensuring her safety.
I break our contact, only to tell her finally. “About what I said in there. To Charger. I do—”
Her finger silences me by pressing against my lips. “Don’t say it. Not yet and not because I don’t want to hear you tell me those words. I’ve waited such a long time for you to say them, but there’s something I need to do first.”
I place my mouth on her finger, then kiss the back of her hand as our fingers intertwine. “I’d wait forever.”
She sighs. “You will not like this but…” My nerves kick in. And I’m suddenly not as calm. “Remember Caleb?” she asks, and my blood boils.
“Are you still seeing him?” I try to hide my anger at a guy I’ve never met. My jealous rage is telling me to find him and rip out his dick.
“No. Even though we weren't a thing, he does call me. We were going to see each other one last time, and I was going to tell him that there was no future between us, but then…”
“We happened.” I’ll admit, I’m relieved.
