Living on the Edge

“Good morning,” Jack leaned over, kissing Vanessa’s forehead. She stretched with a smile. Man, she loved waking up next to this man. Hand on his chest, she suddenly lost her smile.

“Wait!? We slept until morning? What about work?”

“Babe relax, it’s only two in the afternoon.”

She let out a breath and laid her head on his chest. “Still, shouldn’t you be at the club already?”

“I took the day off and so did you. I already called Jazz and Owen, they’re gonna be in charge tonight.”

“Well, Jack, I’m shocked because for as long as I have worked for you, I never saw you take a day off, like ever.”

He pulled her tighter to him. “I know, you make me do crazy things Vanessa.” He smiled playfully.

“Okay, so what are we doing today?”

“Get changed, it’s a surprise. And wear jeans.”

Jack sat up and swung his legs over the bed, putting on his socks, Vanessa propped herself up watching him. His muscular back and broad shoulders were really a work of art.

“I can feel you watching me… you keep that up and we’re not going to be able to do what I had planned today,” he glanced at her with a smirk.

“Okay, okay, but you’re just so damn hot.”

After changing into her skinny jeans and a plain nice top, she fixed her hair and makeup and headed for the kitchen. Jack was already sucking down a cup of coffee while wearing jeans and his leather jacket.

“Pour me some coffee please, handsome.”

He got out a cup and poured her some just how she liked it. She saw a motorcycle helmet sitting on the chair next to her and got a burst of excitement. “Jack… are you taking me out on your bike?” He leaned on the counter behind him, with his feet crossed.

“Babe, do me a favor and never call it a bike again.”

She snorted. “Sorry, are we taking your chariot out today? Is that better master?”

“No, but I do like the master part.” He gave her a side grin.

“Oh! Hang on.” Vanessa set her cup down and went in her bedroom, grabbing her black leather jacket and boots. “Do I look the part now?” She asked as she came out of the bedroom, her hands out to her side, doing a small turn.

Jack eyed her with heat in his eyes. “Yeah, maybe a little too much. I might not want to leave now.” He took two big strides and made it to her, grabbed her around the waist and lifted her to his lips. “You are one sexy woman Vanessa.” She smiled. “And I can’t wait to get you on the back of my chariot.”

She threw her head back and laughed. “Let’s get going then stud.”

They finished their coffee and headed downstairs where his motorcycle was parked. She noticed how he looked around cautiously as she placed the helmet on her head. “Jack, they would have to be completely brainless to do anything while I’m with you.”

“Yeah, you might be right about that one,” he tightened the strap to her helmet and threw a leg over his ride. “Alright gorgeous, climb on behind me.”

“My pleasure.” She threw her arms around Jack’s waist and kissed his cheek.

“Alright babe, hang on tight.”

“Always,” she smiled and squeezed a little tighter as he turned on the engine and took off.

First time Vanessa had ever been on a motorcycle and she had to admit, it felt like an adrenaline rush. Not only was she with Jack but it was fun as hell.

They’d been riding for about an hour, Jack took them on the outskirts of the city. Winding roads, mountains, open water, it was truly amazing. Vanessa held her hands out, closed her eyes, and tilted her head back. Even with the helmet she could feel the wind in her air and felt like a bird that was flying.

“Hey, don’t let go of me!”
