“That’s the way it works. You take those best days and wrap yourself in happiness until the next best day comes along.”

“Like today,” Faith said.

“Like today.” Mrs. Baker nodded. “Hey, I want you to build a little rock sculpture for me.”

Destiny furrowed her brow. “A sculpture?”

“You know what I mean,” Mrs. Baker said. “One of those rock designs you do together.”

“Okay,” Faith said.

“What are you waiting for?”

“Oh!” Faith exclaimed, getting up. “You mean now.”

“Yep, both of you,” Mrs. Baker said.

They walked over to the small rock garden in the corner of their backyard.

“Okay, this design tells the story of Destiny and Faith,” Mrs. Baker began. “First, you need a big rock for the base. It’s called trust. Faith, you start it.”

Faith looked for a big rock with a flat surface on one side and set it in the middle of the space.

“Destiny, your rock is communication. It should be almost the same size and put it right next to trust.”

“Yes ma’am,” Destiny said. She carefully placed a another rock next to the first rock.

Faith smiled at Destiny and reached for her hand. “I know what comes next,” she said, gazing into Destiny’s eyes. “A whole lot of love.”

“That’s right!” Mrs. Baker exclaimed. “You know the story and how to keep it going!”

Faith and Destiny worked together stacking smaller rocks on top of the two large rocks at the base until they had quite a tower.

“What do you think?” Destiny asked as she stood up and gazed at their creation.

“More importantly, what do you think?” Mrs. Baker asked.

Faith put her arm around Destiny and looked over at Mrs. Baker. “I’m wrapping this happiness around us and will always remember this day as one of the best.”

“I think it needs one more rock on top,” Mrs. Baker said.

Destiny handed Faith a small rock that was round on the top and flat on the bottom. Faith carefully set it on top of the others.

“Perfect,” Mrs. Baker said. “That’s my love that you’ll always have in your hearts.”

“Aww, Mrs. B,” Faith said.

“I love to see what you two create together,” Mrs. Baker said. “Like I’ve told you many times: you’re meant to be.”

Later that night Faith was lying in bed with her arms crossed under her head, staring at the ceiling.

“What are you thinking about?” Destiny asked as she slipped under the covers.

Faith released a contented breath and wrapped her arms around Destiny. “I was thinking about our rock sculpture, as Mrs. B called it.”

Destiny chuckled and raised up, resting her head on her hand. “We’ve been married for ten years now and there have been so many best days. Maybe we should add a love rock every year to our stack.”

“I love that idea,” Faith said. Looking into Destiny’s eyes suddenly caused her heart to overflow with love. Sometimes it could be a look, like right now, or a sweet word that made Faith lose her breath or her heart to melt.
