Barron looked over at Brandt. “So, what? You think you’d end up with some little female that deferred to you all the time?”
Brandt lifted a hand in the air with a shrug.
Barron started laughing. “That ain’t how it works. You get the perfect match to you, for whatever reason the fates might think they’re your perfect match.”
“Yeah, I know. And I always thought it would be later. Much later. Like in my thirties later.”
“So, you get an early start,” Barron said.
“She’s all secrets and protective over who she is and her story.”
“Yeah, she is. Ronan said she’s dealt with a lot of rejection, exclusion growing up.”
“How’s he know that?” Brandt asked.
“His dad, I’m sure.”
“I need to find some answers.”
“She didn’t tell you anything about herself?” Barron asked.
“Yeah, a little. Said her father is part of the original line of Dragons that all of those today are descended from.”
“Like, ancient shit?” Barron asked.
“I’m guessing. And she said her grandfather was General Elite of the Royal Army of something.”
“Royal Army of something?”
“Something like sentries or soldiers or something.”
“Let’s see what we find…” Barron said, taking out his phone and typing Royal Army of Soldiers into his search engine. “He a General for England?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Canada?”
“No.”
“Wasn’t Royal Army of Soldiers then.”
“Maybe something about Sovereign,” Brandt said.
“Alright,” Barron said, changing soldier to Sovereign in his search parameters. His brows rose and he looked from his phone to Brandt and back at his phone.
“What?”
“Royal Army of Sovereign Sentries?”
“Yes! That’s it. What does it say?”
“Uhh, I’m not sure how to take this,” Barron said.
“What is it? Tell me what it says,” Brandt said, dropping his feet to the wooden deck and scooting his chair over to see what Barron was looking at.
“The Royal Army of Sovereign Sentries is a fictional military unit said to protect the King of the Gargoyles and all his people. The Legend says that the Gargoyle hierarchy was broken and its people spread to the four corners of the world when one of their Generals defied his King in protection of their people.”
“Do they say the name of the General?”
