Page 33 of Stuck With His Mate

She came for me, by herself and completely of her own free will. This is what I had spent so much time waiting for. For her to feel it too.

I understand that it is different for me, having always been Lycan when Angelina was previously almost entirely human. Being one of us, and all the heightened feelings that came with it would scare anyone.

But what matters is that Angelina has realized what I have known and accepted. You are my fated mate from Sie’f Luna. The declaration of this fills me with happiness and I smile in contentment.

Although I am staring down what are three very strange rogues, even stranger and bigger than the ones who had managed to kill Dwight, and several normal-sized rogues, I cannot help the small burst of pride and joy I feel when Angelina tells me that she loves me.

I move swiftly. Armed with only my sword and a smaller knife, I press the knife into Angelina’s hand, working through a solution in my head.

We need to work together. I will incapacitate them, and you’ll finish them off. Good?

Realizing that I can communicate mind-to-mind with Angelina because of our proximity, this increases my hope that we can get out of this together. All I have to do is guide her as I would when training a new sentinel.

I unsheathe my sword and move into action.

I duck a swipe from the boldest rogue and try to cut its hamstring. It’s almost too fast for me, and Angelina is making progress.

In a few seconds, she has one of the primal rogues on its knees with its throat slashed from ear to ear while it tries to stem the flow of blood with its paws.

I move in for the kill, and immediately separate its head from the body.

Good. I think grimly. Just those two huge bastards left, then it’ll just be the regular ones.

That trick won’t work twice. I can’t even get close anymore.

Angelina’s voice is loud in my head, and tearing my eyes away from her lithe and graceful form, I can see the pattern she has already noticed.

The primal rogues are keeping their distance, staying hidden in the mass of trees, and only lumbering out to attempt killing blows.

Angelina is moving beautifully but we are now separated by a horde of rogues. I try to slash through them as fast as I can but I am having minimal success, and so is Angelina.

I can see that she won’t have a chance to evade another blow from one of the primal rogues, so I attempt to shout in my head, hopeful that it will carry across the bond.

Duck! And catch!

I know she hears me when with eyes still locked on mine and without turning in the direction of the approaching blow, she moves just enough to stay out of the reach of the swipe, and with the graces of a ballerina, catches the sword I throw to her, swinging it over her head, and decapitating the second primal rogue.

Angelina

“Yeah!!” I yell out my victory, as I take off the head of another primal rogue.

I honestly hadn’t thought Williem and I would manage to stay alive but we have done it. Now all that was left was to take care of the last primal rogue, and the couple of normal ones that had managed to survive our combined fury.

“Finally!” I hear Williem yell, as the cavalry arrives, cutting off the escape route of the last primal and the other few rogues. Lake, Judd, Sierra, Jonathan, Josie, and even Eric.

It was the full ensemble, all here to protect us. I can’t help but feel like shedding a happy tear.

This was what a pack was, family; people willing, and ready to protect your life with their own. I finally have a family of my own. This pack was my pack now, and seeing all of them paints a smile on my face.

I walk to Williem; with blood splattered on my hair, I am unsure of how I looked or if I represented what he wanted in a mate. In an Alpha’s mate. I ask him, with no walls up, and no pretenses.

“Why did you say you wished your mate was Sierra instead of me?” I start. “That is all I want to know. Why?”

Williem bursts into laughter, annoying me with his insensitivity towards how much pain he has caused me, and I start to turn away. I will not be made a fool of!

“Baby, you've got it all wrong. I said it, but what I was saying was that I wished my mate was anyone other than you, because you would never leave me alone in a fight even if I ordered you to as Alpha, and having you get hurt fighting by my side would break me.” Williem takes my hand, as he stares deep into my eyes.

He is bare before me. The truth of his words ring true through our bond. “And look at you my darling, you still really wouldn’t leave, and the twist is that I don’t have to worry, not even for a second. You are strong and fast enough to take care of yourself, and me too. You took down two huge rogues by yourself with a car and your bare hands.”
