Page 12 of Blinded By Love

When we reach the bar, she throws herself on someone, who I’m assuming is her boyfriend. Her boyfriend turns around and hugs her back while kissing the side of her neck.

He whispers in her ear and I turn my head to look somewhere else and my eyes catch Max, one of the guys who I was serving at the diner a week or so ago. I haven’t seen him or any of his other friends since that day. Hayden also hasn’t been in class at all and I hate how I am so eager to know why.

Things have been quiet with him. He hasn’t made any moves on me or ruined me like he promised even though I’m constantly looking over my shoulder, expecting him to show up.

“Well if it isn’t the new girl.” Max says before giving me a charming smile and walking closer to me. “Small world.”

Natalia and her boyfriend, who happens to be Chris, turn their heads to look at me. “You know Max?” Natalia asks, raising her eyebrow at me.

“No, we just saw her working at No-Doze a week ago and Max was giving her a hard time,” Chris says. “I’m Chris. It’s nice to officially meet you Jaclyn.” He gives me a small smile before looking down at Natalia.

“Well yea this is Chris,” Natalia says pointing to her boyfriend. “You know Max, the charmer.” I look at Max who winks at me. “And then Kayden who is right there.” Natalia points to Kayden who is sitting at the bar behind Max. He gives me a tight lipped smile before moving his attention back on his phone. “And then my brother Hayden isn’t here because he’s actually one of the fighters tonight. He is a little grumpy and mean like I told you but he’ll get used to you,” Natalia assures before looking at Kayden. “He’s ready right? What time should he be on?”

What a small fucking world.

Of course he’s Natalia’s brother and I have a feeling he won’t be too happy that I’m here tonight and that I’m Natalia’s new friend.

“Soon. He is just waiting for this current fight to end,” Kayden says, not taking his eyes off his phone.

“We also reserved a table for after his fight because I knew you’d be hungry.” Chris pecks her on the forehead which makes her blush and stare at him with adoration.

They look like they are so in love and it’s just another thing I envy about Natalia now. She looks happy around Chris and it makes me jealous how she has something like love.

I’ve never had a boyfriend but I have gone on a few dates here and there. It never worked out with anyone I have talked to because boys are stupid and they just break your heart. At least for me they do.

“His fight should be starting soon so we should head to the front if we want to get a good show. People know he’s fighting tonight so it’s going to be crowded,” Kayden says before pocketing his phone.

Natalia looks at me. “My brother is one of the best fighters at this club. Everyone is obsessed with him, which I don’t get.” She rolls her eyes and shakes her head slightly.

I feel a heavy arm wrap around my shoulder making me look at Max who is next to me. “Yea he is good but I’m pretty sure I am better,” Max says cockily.

We all start walking towards the cage following Kayden as he pushes past people. Max keeps his arm around my shoulder and I want to tell him to let me go but I don’t want to be rude. I just can’t stand it when people touch me or get in my personal space, it makes me feel trapped and suffocated.

Once we’re in front of the cage, Max finally lets go of me and Natalia is standing next to me as we wait for her brother to show up.

“HDMI” by BONES blasts through the speakers and a guy in a black suit walks into the cage.

“Who’s ready?!” he yells in the microphone. Everyone yells loudly and this whole experience feels so unreal. The way everyone is yelling the name “Night” while slamming their fists against the cage. “Now let’s get this night started. Bring out our fighters, Johnathon Garcia and Hayden Night!”

Everyone yells Hayden’s name, even Natalia who is screaming. I cast a look at Kayden who is just watching everything play out with a bored expression on his face. Max is banging on the cage while yelling out Hayden’s name. A fighter with green gloves and black shorts walks out. His curly hair is tied in a bun and he is glistening with sweat but my attention diverts to the other person who walks inside the ring.

Hayden walks in the ring like a god who knows all eyes are on him. He is wearing black shorts and red gloves. My eyes can’t help but trail all over him. His body looks like it was sculpted and perfected by God himself. I knew he was all muscle underneath the sweater and jeans he wore.

As if Hayden can feel my staring, his eyes go to me.

The fight coordinator is talking but Hayden pays no mind, he keeps his eyes trained on me and I see fire in his eyes. I never assumed he was a happy guy but just from him keeping his eyes on me with a small glare in his gaze makes me feel like he is not happy with me being in his vicinity.

Next thing I know Hayden takes a punch to the face making my jaw drop and heart speed up. I hold on to the cage as I watch Hayden shake his head and move towards Johnathon and throw a punch to his face before thrusting his other fist to Johnathon’s chest.

Johnathon is throwing mediocre punches that Hayden keeps blocking. Hayden pushes Johnathon off him and ends up cornering him against the cage. Hayden is throwing punches back and forth to Johnathon’s face and ribs, not taking a second to give Johnathon a break.

My mind circles as I watch Hayden in his element, fighting and releasing anger onto Johnathon. The crowd goes wild, chanting and cheering on Hayden who ends up punching Johnathon until he falls limp to the floor.

Weirdly, watching as all of this plays out, I don’t feel the need to throw up but I feel a rush of adrenaline go through me. I want to see another fight happen because that was something I have never seen before. It feel like a rush or high, watching the fight play out.

I look away from Johnathon who is lying on the floor half conscious and instead look at Hayden.

His gloves are bloody and his chest has Johnathon’s blood on it. Hayden has blood running down his face from his eyebrow but that doesn’t matter because he doesn’t even look fazed by that.
