“Yeah. He thought he was finna manhandle me, but I had to show him that I wasn’t the one. I try to keep the peace with everybody, and I think people think I’m weak because of that. He learned differently when I knocked out his fronts. Dumb ass muthafucka.”
I glanced down at his hand and noticed it was somewhat swollen. “That just happen?”
“Yeah. I came straight here.”
I went to the kitchen to put some ice in a towel. Our generation of Hendersons seemed to be just as fucked up as our parents. I didn’t know why people always wanted to try us, like because we were Hendersons, we would avoid confrontation. If anything, we were the total opposite. We would engage and diffuse any damn situation, simply because we were Hendersons. One day, these niggas were gonna learn.
Christian had to fuck up Mya’s ex, and I had a feeling I was gonna have to fuck up Cassie’s ex. Mesani wasn’t going to bow out easily. If he pressed charges on my baby, I would stop at nothing to see him suffer. I handed Jacob the towel of ice, and he applied it to his hand. After taking a deep breath, he said, “I have a feeling I’m gon’ be getting arrested soon.”
I frowned hard. “Why the fuck you think that?”
“Because one more muthafucka come at me, I’m gon’ snap they fucking neck. I can’t keep dealing with this shit, and she know she under my fucking skin like poison ivy. She irritating the fuck out of me, and I’m one step from blowing her brains out. Real shit.”
I could see just how serious he was. Unfortunately, I had no words for him. I wasn’t the best nigga to tell no shit like that to. I would amp him up to go do it. This was when I needed Karima. She was at that damn rodeo. I slid my hand down my face before saying, “I know it’s hard, man, but think about Aunt Jen, Jess, Uncle Carter, and CJ. That would tear them apart.”
“I know. That’s why I haven’t done it yet. There’s only so much a person can take. I filed the restraining order, and she violated that shit. Now she sending other people to get at me. I don’t know what else to do.”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but have you talked to Uncle Storm? That nigga petty as hell and can probably think of something to do to make that shit stop.”
“Naw, I haven’t talked to him, but I’ll probably have to. He can’t stand her family.”
I nodded and chuckled, thinking about how Christian said he told Courtney her breath stank. Courtney was Jameka’s cousin, and it seemed like they had a serious infatuation with Henderson dick. I wondered if my dad or any of my uncles had gotten involved with their family or if this was exclusive to our generation. Aunt Tiffany seemed to know some shit, too, when she was talking to ol’ girl’s mother after Jess whupped her ass.
He downed his drink and sat quietly for a moment. I supposed he was mulling things over in his head. He pulled his phone from his pocket and called Uncle Storm. That nigga answered with plenty of noise, but that wasn’t unusual.
“Don’t tell me. You tired of fucking with them people, and you need me to fuck they world up. I’ve been expecting this call for a long ass time. I will gladly help you handle those bitches.”
“Damn. What’s up to you too, Unc.”
I slowly shook my head as Uncle Storm said, “Yeah, yeah, yeah. What’s up, lil nigga? Come to my house. I got plenty of info that will have those bastards begging for mercy.”
“A’ight. I’m on my way.”
He ended the call and stood from his seat. I stood with him. “Uncle Storm’s level of ‘I don’t give a fuck’ is unmatched. I swear.”
That nigga had no bounds when it came to fucking up somebody’s life. You would think they knew better by now. I supposed their parents didn’t tell them any better.
I kissed Cassie long on the lips in front of our entire families. The unverbalized questions from my side of the family had me chuckling. I could see it in their demeanors, especially Christian’s. The only person that knew what was up was my dad. No one else knew the entire story. They would after this competition. I had to get this win in the bag.
If I won, I would win eighty grand tonight. I was so hype. My dad was planning a dinner for tomorrow to celebrate Karima and me doing our thing. She had won first place a little earlier today, and I was so proud of her. She would be flying home in the morning and said she had something to tell us.
I didn’t know what she could possibly have to say to where we all needed to be in attendance, but whatever it was, it had me nervous. Karima was somewhat of a loner, and I was hoping she wasn’t about to tell us she was leaving Nome. While she got on my nerves sometimes when we were growing up, I wouldn’t trade that shit for the world. She was more than a sister. She was my confidant, my counselor, and my best friend.
I hadn’t heard how Milana and Rylan had done yet. They were at a local rodeo in Liberty, if I was remembering correctly. Both were trying to make names for themselves. Milana was coming up fast and would give Karima a run for her money soon if she stayed with that event. However, like mother like daughter, she was trying to break into bareback riding as well. No woman had dominated that event since Tiffany Henderson fucked it up without lube.
I kissed Cassie again before heading to the back. “I pray you do well, baby,” she said as I pulled away from her.
“I will do well. I’m speaking that, baby. After this competition, I don’t have another one for an entire month. You better make sure that birth control is a strong dosage.”
She blushed slightly. “Kendrall, I’m not changing my birth control. If you haven’t noticed, I fuck wit’chu heavy. Whatever happens, happens. You’re my love, and I have no doubts about us.”
“Well, fuck. Talk nice to me then. You gon’ mess around and make me miss this money.”
She giggled as I pulled her back to me. Cassie was just who I needed in my life. After Jacob left, it took us a lil bit to get back in the frame of mind we were in. We ended up deciding to just get some sleep. I needed every minute of sleep I could muster to get ready for today. I would have fucked her until the cows came home.
“A’ight, a’ight. Go do what you came here to do,” Mr. Price said playfully.
I lightly kissed Cassie’s lips again and walked off before I couldn’t. That woman owned me… every piece of me. I slapped my dad’s hand and gave him a half hug as he said, “Put that work in, son.”
