“No apology necessary, Jason. I suppose I did everything but crawl in wearing a drab housedress,” she laughed. “Will you be letting me know either way?”

“Yes, we will. I have several interviews today. I will sit down with Seb and Chase, the owners, and the other managers tonight. You should have an answer in the next day or two.”

“Thank you, so much. I look forward to hearing from you.”

“Have a great day, Jane.”

I sat back in my chair after she left the office and shook my head. She had huge potential, not just as a member, but as a sub as well. It would be a shame for her not to be accepted and I would be lobbying for her. The girls would be able to help draw her out of her shell and answer any of her questions. I checked my schedule and rolled my eyes. My next interview was with a Dom and I hoped it went as well as this one had. I could only hope the name wasn’t an indication.

“Butch? Come on in,” I said, offering my hand to shake.

I didn’t want to make assumptions as I had with the last one but this man? I would quit and hand in my membership card before I would have him in. Not only had he not shaken my hand, but he’d also bumped me on the way in, attempting to intimidate me no doubt.

“Have a seat.”

“You don’t get to tell me what to do,” he growled.

“Actually, I get to do exactly that. I am a manager in this club and, right now, I am the man you need to convince that you belong here.”

“I filled out the fucking questionnaire. I assume I passed the background check or I wouldn’t be here. So, how many more fucking hoops am I going to have to jump through before you approve me?”

“None,” I said, standing. “I’ve heard all I need to.”

I opened the door, just in time for Butch to really start ranting and raving. Thomas came running and I smiled gratefully. I’d have had a hard time trying to get this man out of the club in the state he was in.

“Need I say more?”

“Nope, not a word, Boss. Let’s go, your interview is done.”

Butch didn’t make it easy, but Thomas and I managed to wrangle him out of the club.

“How the fuck did that guy pass the first two steps for vetting?”

“I have no idea, but I sure as fuck plan to find out. Fuck me.”

“I wouldn’t want to be you. I wouldn’t have the patience for it.”

“I’d have loved to lay him out, but Seb and Chase would kill me for inviting a lawsuit,” I chuckled.

“I think maybe I should stay up here in case you’ve been sent any other surprises.”

“I’d appreciate it. Are you letting people in the side door?”

“Yeah. We didn’t want people thinking the club was open if they drove by.”

“Who do you have doing it?”

“Harrison is down there. You don’t need to worry about him having any problems controlling the interviewees.”

I trudged back up to my office and waited for the next person to arrive.

Eight long hours later, I had finally gotten through the rest of the interviews. Thankfully, none of them had gone the way of Butch’s. I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes. Maybe Leah would have time to grab dinner with me before I had to meet with everyone about the applicants.

“Hey, handsome,” said Leah, giggling when I jumped.

Hey, baby girl. I was just thinking about you. I was going to ask if you wanted to have dinner, but it seems we had the same idea.”
