Raven: Boring and busy as shit lately. Yours?

Leah: Not too bad. I’ve actually had a manageable schedule for a change. Okay, I’d best get to work finding someone else to go. Do you have time to grab dinner this week?

Raven: I’m sure I do, but I’d need to check my work schedule. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Leah: Okay, talk soon.

Raven: Sounds good

I sighed, disappointed that Raven wasn’t able to come with me. The only other people I’d be interested in spending the weekend with were Jason and Sasha. I somehow doubted Jason would be up for a spa weekend. The doorbell rang and I was surprised to see Sasha there when I opened it. I stepped aside to let her in.

“You have impeccable timing,” I laughed.

“Oh? Why’s that?”

“Because I was just about to text you. What are you doing next weekend?”

“Absolutely nothing. I was actually coming to tell you I was off for the weekend. I thought you might want to go on a road trip with me.”

“I’d love to. I even know where we’re going, though it’s only a couple of hours away.”

“Well, don’t keep me in suspense!”

“How do you feel about a weekend at a spa in the Poconos?”

“Fuck off, really? How?!”

“I was given a spa package by a client. A girls’ weekend away.”

“I am so in. Does Jason know?”

“Nope, I only just found out a little bit ago. I’m starving. Why don’t we go grab some dinner?”

“I’d love to. I’ll drive.”

“No shit,” I snorted. “I don’t have a car.”

“C’mon, smartass, let’s go eat and plan our weekend.”

By the time Sasha dropped me home, we had planned all the spa treatments and restaurants. We’d make a loose plan of how to spend our downtime there as well. I was so excited about our weekend away. I couldn’t help but wonder if Jason and I would ever go away for a weekend. He had me all kinds of twisted up, so I was hoping spending some time away with Sasha might be just the thing I needed. Maybe she would even have some advice for me.

The week had flown by and we were finally leaving for our girl’s weekend away. Jason had been thrilled for us, especially given the fact he was going to be busy either at the restaurant or the club all weekend.

“Have you been to the Poconos before, Sasha?”

“Not since I was a little girl. I don’t think I could have been any older than ten when I was here last. There’s something I’m dying to know about this weekend.”

“What’s that?”

“Do your clients always give you such extravagant gifts? I’m familiar with this spa and it’s fancy as fuck.”

“No,” I laughed, “this is not the norm. Sometimes I’ll be sent flowers or a bottle of wine. A couple of times I got tickets to Broadway, but I’ve never been given anything like this before. I tried refusing this, but she wouldn’t hear of it. She’s a fantastic client, so the last thing I wanted to do was offend her by pushing it.”

“I’m in the wrong line of work. Last week, one of the dance moms offered to buy me a pop,” Sasha cackled. “A pop!”

“Oh my God. Seriously? That’s what you’re comparing this to?”
