“Come in,” she called.

I opened the door and walked in, mildly surprised to see Leah sitting on the bed. Nico’s head was in Sasha’s lap and she was running her hands through his hair. “Of course, it is,” Nico said. “After all, you did help save me.”

“Honestly, Nico, it was everything I could do not to drag them out back and show them what I could do. I think I’d have had help, too.”

“You sure as fuck would have had mine,” Sasha said, her voice still trembling with anger. I want to know who they are and how they got in here. I find it damn hard to believe they’d have passed the vetting process. This is the kind of problem Seb and Chase were talking about in the staff meeting and I plan on giving them an earful.”

“Sasha,” Leah said softly, “I know you’re pissed. I think we all are, but before you go launching yourself at them, maybe wait to find out what happened. There could be another way they got in here. I’m sure Seb and Chase will update you and the other managers when they have more information.”

“She’s right, Sasha. You know how great the guys are. Give them a chance to figure things out. I’m okay, just a couple of bumps and bruises.”

It was clear that she didn’t agree with any of us, but she agreed to wait until she was calmer to have a conversation. In this situation, it was probably the best any of us could expect of her.

“Jason and I are going to let you guys have some privacy unless you need me to stay.”
