“I saw you two at the restaurant, remember!”
“What you saw isn’t what you think. She showed up about a minute before you did. I had no idea that she was coming or why she did.”
“And your hand on her back?”
“My hand wasn’t on her back! I was motioning her in because she told me she had noticed something wrong in the restaurant. I didn’t want her there at all. As soon as Raven drove off with you screaming at me, I went back and kicked her the fuck out. I told her she wasn’t welcome there anymore.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really! Fuck, baby girl. I know you probably won’t believe this, but I only want you. I’m not the type to dip my toes in every pond, so to speak. Cindi has many screws loose in that head of hers. If I wanted to be with her, in any capacity, I wouldn’t be with anyone else.”
“This is all my fault! I’m so sorry,” she said, sadly.
“No, Leah. It’s not your fault. I made you doubt everything, so you had no reason not to think what you did. What I want to know is where we go from here.”
“Do you still want to be with me?”
“I spent the last two days beside myself with worry. I was chomping at the bit to go and get you from the hotel. Fuck, I was so drunk, I fell flat on my face trying to rush out of the house. Sasha and Raven convinced me to stay and went instead. I asked you to come, even knowing you’d misinterpreted what happened with Cindi, so why wouldn’t I still want to be with you?”
I oofed when she launched herself at me, nearly knocking me, and the chair, over. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close, burying my head in the crook of her neck.
“I love you, baby girl.”
“I love you too, Jason.”
“I would love to just take you to bed and make love to you all day, but I can’t. I have to meet with a distributor at the restaurant in an hour.”
“That’s okay. I’ve been told I’m needed at the club.”
“Oh?” I asked, brow raised.
“I’ve been recruited to help with the Halloween event. We’ll be doing the actual setup in a couple of days, but Raven, Sasha, and I have been taxed with buying all the shit we need.”
“Oh, God. I hope they gave you guys cash and not a credit card,” I smirked.
“Very funny. Be careful or I’ll take your card to pay,” she laughed.
“Did you drive here?"
"No, my mom needed the car for the weekend. I’ll have it back Halloween morning.”
“Okay, let me drop you at the club then. It’s not like it isn’t close.”
“Thanks, that would be great.”
She put her hands on my cheeks and kissed me. I hugged her tight to me and kissed her back, struggling not to deepen it. I really couldn’t afford to be late for the meeting.
“Okay, I need to stop that or I’m going to get carried away,” I chuckled.
I dropped her at the club, admiring her ass as she walked to the side door. Sasha pushed it open and whispered something to her. Leah turned back with a huge grin.
“Stop staring at my ass!”
I busted out laughing, shaking my head, and drove away. Everything was going to be okay.
