“I mean, I did. But that was before I knew you, Prez, and Zeke planned?—”
“Not that.” Finn waves his hand. “I mean because … well … when Zeke came here, he used to …”
It finally clicks what he’s talking about. “Oh, that.”
“Yeah. I’m not sure how you don’t hate me. You’ve had feelings for him for years and he …”
“Finn,” I say, stopping him from trying to explain himself or their actions. “It’s okay. Zeke and I weren’t together. I couldn’t tell him what to do any more than he could have told me. I didn’t expect him to be a monk just because I had feelings for him, just like I wasn’t.” Dropping my voice, I lean forward so only Finn can hear me. “Besides that, I already told Zeke I thought the idea of all of you together was hot as fuck.” Finn’s eyes grow wide just like Zeke’s did when I told him. “I don’t hate you, Finn. You can rest assured of that.”
At that moment, Clara drops our plates off and I breathe in deeply. Everything looks so good; I don’t know where to start. Picking up my fork, I dig in, groaning when the perfectly seasoned food hits my tongue. If it wouldn’t be considered rude, I would have just started shoveling food in my mouth without coming up for air. If I come back and visit for nothing else, it’ll be this food. I can see why it’s Finn’s favorite restaurant. Clara has skills.
After we clear our plates and are on the way back to Finn’s home, he asks, “Would you do it?”
“Do what?” I ask, looking around at the scenery, loving how warm and beautiful Cuba is. This is an amazing place. I definitely have to come back to visit.
Finn looks around, then steps closer to bump my shoulder. “A threesome.”
“Oh,” I mutter. “I have before, when I was in undergrad. It was not fun. I haven’t tried since then.”
“Would you with Zeke?”
I nod. “Yeah, definitely. I know he’d make it good for me. He always does.”
Finn laughs softly. “Would it bother you seeing him with someone else? I thought with how possessive Rax is with me that he would, but he seems to get off on it. With Zeke, anyway.”
“No,” I reply, shaking my head. “If we agree to do it together, I expect him to touch someone else. As long as there’s trust there, I think it could be fun.” I shrug, peeking into shops as we walk past. “When I was in undergrad, it was just me and two guys that I thought were good looking. We were all fumbling around, not really knowing what we were doing. When I got my career underway, I didn’t step outside the box again. I was way too busy to set something like that started.”
Finn nods. “That makes sense. I’m sorry about your job.” I’d already told Rax and Finn that I decided to come because I quit my job. “That’s bullshit.”
I shrug. It still stings that they tried to make me give up my family, but I feel better about not working with people like that and about my decision to open my own firm.
Over the past few days, Zeke and I have been brainstorming about how to proceed. I have a nest egg saved up, so I can find a building to lease. Since I’ve built up a lot of contacts over the years, I can get advice from other attorneys that are in the private sector. As soon as I get back from this vacation with my head clear, I can hit the ground running and start getting my business off the ground.
“It’s okay,” I mutter as we walk up the driveway and enter the house. “It was better this way. I figure it was only a matter of time before they tried to get me to drop the club. Better that it happened now before I accepted the position than later. I’ve already been there for almost ten years.”
“It’s not wasted time though.”
“Seems like that.”
Finn hooks his arm through mine and pulls me through the house and into the kitchen. He takes down a glass for himself and pours some wine after he hands me a beer from the fridge. We sit at the table and get comfortable. “It wasn’t. You got experience that will help you when you open your own practice. Experience is never a waste of time. Besides, if you hadn’t worked there, you wouldn’t have met Zeke. So maybe it was meant to lead you to Zeke. You’ll land on your feet. I have faith.”
Smiling, I tip my beer to my lips. “Thanks, Finn. You know, I’m glad you and Rax got together. I was a little worried there, with the kidnapping and all.”
Finn throws his head back and laughs. “Yeah, me too. I don’t advise it for anyone else though.”
“True.”
We sit at the table, drinking and shooting the shit until the guys come back. Rax nods at me, then grabs Finn by the back of the head, pulling him to his feet so he can plant his lips on Finn’s. I shake my head as I watch them kiss like they’re the only ones in the room. Before long, I have to duck my head, feeling myself get hot under the collar. They are unabashed with their affection and it’s more than turning me on.
Zeke throws a napkin I was playing with at Rax and Finn, making them pull apart. “Fucking love birds,” he says, giving me a chaste kiss. “You act like you were separated for years instead of three hours.”
“Whatever. We’re going upstairs. You two might want some earplugs tonight,” Rax says in his normal growl.
“Ugh,” Zeke grumbles good naturedly. Finn laughs and the two of them head upstairs. When they disappear around the corner, Zeke takes my beer and drinks the rest. “You okay?”
“Good. Finn and I had some lunch and he showed me around some of the island. How was work?” I know they’re into some illegal shit, but he was into illegal shit before we got together. It is what it is.
Zeke shrugs. “It was cool. We got some shit figured out. We’re not going to be taking anything back with us, leaving the pick-up to Pete and whoever he brings next month.” We hear loud moans and lustful cursing coming from upstairs and we both burst into laughter.
